Look at your wardrobe, what color makes your heart sing? If you want moody, add black to the color. If you want softness, add gray to the color. If you want airy, add color to tint a white base. If you want clear and bright, look for color with high light reflective value. Yellow is very hard paint color to get right due to changes in sunshine as day progresses or day is overcast. Blue with red undertones can look purple at night.

Your gorgeous floors look orangey on my monitor. In that case, consider paint color in true navy, grayed navy, sage green, tans, light browns, greige, would complement the flooring.

Agree you need your rugs and furniture in the room before choosing wall color.

Not loving those highly textured walls and ceiling. Before painting anything I would try and find out if that texturing is original or was a cheap way to patch up original plaster walls. I would want all that texture gone.

I don’t have any furniture! It’s a blank slate. And the highly textured walls are absolutely original. They all have them. Wouldn’t choose it, but it’s the era.

Furnish the rooms and pick paint colors last.

I would scrape all heavy texture from the walls and ceiling. Colors of your furniture can influence how you feel and the overall atmosphere in your home

If you have to paint before furniture at least start with a rug. That way you have something foundational to base your color selection off of.

The floors are lovely, but have a strong tone you will want to synchronize into your color scheme.
