Whenever I can... I put a sink window at counter level whenever possible... 'Feels good to have natural light shining on the countertop and on the sink.

I have a similar set up and my window goes right to the cupboard on each side.

As stated, window can down down a lot further. Leave a few inches for back splash.

Also, recommend doing an awning window, then it canbe opened when raining.

have you thought of turning this into a U kitchen. the window on the left could be the middle of the U with sink under there.......then the long wall can have stove and fridge [reverse them] and the other side of the U could be a peninsula coming off left wall. I kinow you didnt ask but this plan doesnt use your space very well. .

skylight can be a solution as shown...when you shouldnt really forfeit the wall cabinets in a small kitchen.

Narrow windows above sinks look strange, to me. I wonder, why is this window so narrow? Is this a fortress and the window is narrow so you can shoot out but be protected from incoming fire? Is is an institution and we don’t want the occupants to climb out and jump or escape? Is it low-income housing with the cheapest possible windows? Is it some new trend, to have as little natural light as possible? Why why why?

I would do the largest window possible. Sunlight is vital.

@herbflavor We did try a U Kitchen at first with the kitchen designer, but since the existing window isn't centered on the wall and it's only a few inches away from the sliding patio doors, it was hard to center the kitchen sink underneath the window and have a peninsula since it would block the opening to our patio door.

31.5"x35.5" is better than the 2x3. I have 2x3 and it is too small

@John Liu No to all of the above. This is just a regular kitchen, a bit on the smaller size with no pantry so we opted for wall cabinets. The available space for a new window in between the wall cabinets is about 37" wide.

Fit the biggest window you can in the space.

Why are you placing it so high up from the counter?

Yes, you want to be able to look out of that window- too low and it may get water splashed, check your height to relative to the window to see if where it should go.

I agree with having a larger window, just need to factor in if there will be any backsplash tile planned so spacing is balanced. Not sure if you're planning just 4" backsplash same as counter or doing a tiled backsplash.

Agree with the bigger window - do it now while you can (also just a plug to be careful with the fridge against the wall, you’ll need to use appropriate filler or it can be hard to fully open the left door)

re the fridge. So often that happens, can't open the door completely. Also, make sure you have a panel down the side of the fridge/counter. Looks more finished.

Have counter go to wall, no backsplash in counter material. Also, no tiled sidesplash beside stove area..

Also, try to get as many drawers as possible. Much more useful than cupboards.

Do all drawers on your island.

Bigger is nice, but what will it look like in relation to the rest of the house and existing windows?
