What a lovely gesture for your grandmother. The side board and book stand are really nice. It looks like there is a need for coat and shoes. I would buy some black fabric and pin it under the sideboard to create a "cupboard" for shoes. I noticed a cane in the background so I would be tempted to remove the rug to avoid a trip hazard. I would move the coat rack closer to the door. I would then clear off the sideboard and add a bowl/basket for keys, a vase with fresh/silk flowers and one of the picture frames.

Thanks so much for the recommendations! I definitely will do. I’ve been wanting to remove the rug. It’s been so long. And something for shoes would be a nice touch, we typically remove as we enter living room

I would put greenery up over the mirror draped down both sides and same with the front door. Remove the pictures off the console (just for Christmas!) and put some electric candles and a nativity or holiday card# or whatever makes sense. Even a big glass bowl filled with Christmas ornaments.

I just googled ‘garland on mirror’. Tons of examples. Incorporate what you have locally- I have easy access to pinecones and red berries so those always get used. Magnolia branches hold up well.

That’s really nice of you! Does she have holiday decor you can use or do you need to purchase everything? You could use a few of her items then add a couple of newer pieces.
