Pictures help. calamondins

I tried and couldn't make the photo make the transfer. I don't have the plant, only some fruit. It looks like a tiny half mandarin and a kumquat.

yes, I'm very familiar with them. Calamondin is also known as calamansi and is used extensively in Filipino cuisine as a condiment and flavoring. I've also seen calamondin be used for lemonade or "calamansi-ade", mixed with alcohol for drinks, and even as a substitute for key lime in pies and also for icing. I use them whenever I need a kick of citrus, to add some sourness to dishes, and often squeeze them into hot water or tea.

Late to this but I grew up with a calamondin tree that gave us loads of fruit every year. We made marmalade and orangeade, and generally used them like lemons in cooking. The peels on ours were sweet - tho not as sweet as kumquats.

It sounds like you might have tried calamondins or another sour citrus variety. Unlike sweet kumquats, these are known for their tartness, including the peel.

Calamondins are my favorite citrus. The have a special zing that I really enjoy. Ive never seen the fruit for sale in stores in my state (NC), so I grow them here at home in pots. You can use the juice for many things, flavoring drinks, deserts, etc. Must would not eat them out of hand, but I do. I dry the peel to make tea. It's a pretty little citrus tree and very productive.
