Bedroom Patio Door

I'm very light sensitive, even small amounts of light wake me up. I have a patio door in my bedroom. In the past I've covered it with a draped wall (about 15 feet). I'm getting ready to paint and re-texgure the walls and ceiling. The drapes are worn-out and I found them difficult to put-up and take down for cleaning. I'm wondering about covering the window with a over-sized barn door. I've seen some modern examples that look nice. What do y'all think about ghe idea?

How about using blackout roller shades or cellular shades with light blockers (illustrated) to prevent light from leaking around the sides of the shades? Depending on the depth of the door from the plane of the wall, you might be able to do an inside mount (example with two blinds) which would allow the shade to be very unobtrusive. I'd consider a shade before a second door which would not only be odd but wouldn't necessarily block all light because a barn door can't be flush against a wall.

(I have triple blackout cellular shades on a single header and it's pretty darn dark even without side light blockers.)

What is a patio door? A door with a window? Or a sliding door, french door? How do you install a barn door in front of a slider or window? This is a little confusing.
