Window treatment help

last year

I am not sure if I should do anything to enhance the appearance of the corner windows. It looks kind of bare. Not needed for shade, since there are blinds. I also would like something to cover the sliding glass doors when needed. I just don't know how to tie it all together.

Washable (dog friendly) full length curtains would work. Use rings on a good strong rod with a center support. The painting in betwen door and windows will need to be moved to allow some room for the curtains to be drawn fully off the windows and door.

Agree with suggestion to pull sofa away from wall. At least far enough to put front feet on rug. That will look nicer as well as allow space for drapes - another good suggestion. Can’t see wall space available to right of door. And, yes, it does look like pup wants to be inside with family!

Yes, the painting is a good size for over the mantel.

Thank you all for the great ideas! The dog is usually on the couch, had to shoo her for a moment to take the picture! 😄 I appreciate you guys. 🙏

Your sweet pup is very patient lol. I agree rings or grommets are the way to go, so easy to slide open and closed. Easy to control light and through the screen door you get air.

We have Miulee velvet blackouts and dog hair does not seem to be a problem. I don't know why and yes, we have a dog lol, but I guess it's a mystery.

Post a picture of the entire room. We need to see the whole space even just for curtains. Are there any other windows in the space? I think due to the height and that it is a reclining sofa maybe face it to the FP. You might consider Faux Roman Shades for the windows and solar shades on the slider.

@jck910 I agree that the sofa would look best facing the fireplace. But then I'd have to move the TV! 🤣

Susan, Love the lounging pup pics & appreciate you being so good humored about everyone’s concerns about doggie left outside. We dog folk are kindred spirits all in that our homes are arranged with our fur coated family needs in mind. 😁 Looking at your additional pics, it does look like there’s not enough wall on dining side for drapes to stack off window. Also, looks like a window in dining area. IMO, all windows that can be viewed from one point need to have a cohesive window treatment. That means your home needs a treatment that works with the corner windows, the slider doors & the dining windows. The corner windows could have drape panels that slide/ draw away from corner to outside edge of each window & the slider could have the same drape panels that all stack back to the left side away from the opening. That does mean moving the art & I agree with suggestion to hang it over FP. Looks like perfect size & would be more impactful than what’s there if only due to its size. The dining area window? What to do? Need a shot of window - facing the window.

I was not at all concerned about the dog being outside : ) I've seen that look many times from our pup lol.

With the dining room window there, the slider drapes will have to open to the left...that's okay.

Use inside mount rollers or cellular shade for the dining room windows if they need anything...they don't need drapes. It's fine to have both drapes and shades in the same great room...we do. We have rollers for our dining room nook as part of the great room.

Space-saving blinds and shades that match the wall color can indeed make a room feel larger and more unified. This approach creates a seamless look, especially in tighter spaces, helping the window treatments blend in without adding visual clutter.
