We have a step down living room. We need help with furniture arrangements and overall design. Is there any application that will allow you to upload your photo and design it yourself by inserting furniture and designing it?

Also, we are getting new floors, medium dark wood.

I don't know about that kind of software, perhaps someone knows.

Look at floorplanner.com It's free. You can enter the dimensions of your room I believe...not sure about a photo. If you give us the dimensions, you might get specific proposals here on Houzz.

Would something like in this layout sketch work for you? The two armchairs would swivel to watch TV (aqua line). Sectional under the window. Foot traffic is along the staircase on the right.

My only concern is that on the couch corner is our front door and a diagonal cut

If you are changing the floor, will you also be getting rid of the tile with that diagonal cut? Also the windows don’t appear to be set very high. Would the back of a sectional be above the bottom of your windows?

A to scale floor plan done on graph paper to make it easier. All windows , doorways where those lead clearly marked . Every measurement cleraly marked post here in jpeg format DO NOT start another post . How many seats do you need ? Is this the only space for a TV> I use that type of floor plan and use the same scale to for the furniture I cut from light cardboard . I find it easier to do that then play with some PITA software It allows moving the pieces easily . Walkways are a big deal BTW I dislike sectionals always BTW

You could abut sofa to the step down.

A modualr sofa system that you can angle to fit the step-down would work.

A to scale floor plan and additional photos would help. It's a nice space and should be large enough to accommodate a number of different seating arrangements. Even though there are lots of windows it does seem a little dark. So, will suggest that you install additional lighting fixtures (downlights) to brighten the space up.
