Waht is vinyl wrap ??? It sounds horrible like mactac. The cabinets look fine they work with the counter and all the rest . I undesrstand wanting to make it yours but if it ain't broke don't "fix" it The lightin in the center is not odeal maybe one more veiling hugger light that works with the one a bove the island or IMO get a nice center light and some pendants for the island that all work together with LED 4000K bulbs

I need help understanding your end goal. Things seem a bit mixed up. You are willing to outlay the money for the most expensive appliances, but want to vinyl wrap the cabinets and keep the granite and backsplash.

If this were my kitchen

I would replace the ceiling light,

add under counter lighting.

replace the appliances when they die and buy mid level brands

I would paint the walls and add a colorful backsplash and get new counters, using the colors in your art as my guide.

Thanks for the comments. Higher end appliances are replacing these at no cost from a property we tore down. Note: all appliances we're installing fit the space.

Eventually all cabinets and counters will be replaced and a lot more ceiling lighting will be installed.

With those high-end appliances, do not put in an over the range MW -- it will not "fit". That level of appliances "want" a true hood, preferably 6" wider than the range and 24"D (both for functional and aesthetic reasons). It could be an undercabinet hood, but I'm not sure if one at the level you're talking about will fit with your current cabinets.

Have you checked the specs for the appliances you're considering? Do they fit in the spaces your current appliances are taking up? It doesn't look like you have any "wiggle room" for sizes.

Honestly? I'd save up until I could do it right -- cabinets and other items to match the level of appliances you want.

OK, so you're not actually buying the appliances. My questions regarding the sizes and spaces still apply. E.g., you may have to tear out the upper cabinet over the refrigerator to fit the Sub-Zero, assuming you have enough width.

jdahle - you could be a little nicer regarding this free advice. Geez. If you flip so many properties you should know what sells.

I have a smaller kitchen in a NYC coop, with subzero and Bertazzoni appliances, so I get what you are up to and where you are coming from.

Your newly installed, higher end appliances will be heftier in appearance; the knobs, grates, grills on Wolf and subzero take up more visual space and will make your space feel smaller. Your current cabinets recede into the space and make the room feel bigger. Keep them the color they are. If anything, I'd color match the walls to the cabinets so the entire space is white.

New hardware, more substantial stools, and a sleeker light fixture are all that is needed.

How soon are you flipping and staging this place? When do you intend to install new cabinets and counters? Are you going to be living here yourself or renting it out?

@Buehl - It is pretty common in small kitchen condos with high end appliances to do the MW over the range because of lack of space and often inability to have venting.

If you're an expert then I'm not sure why you're asking for advice. But since you are: if your eventual plan is to gut the kitchen then the logical thing to do is nothing and put your vinyl wrap money towards the eventual gut job. I would not even go to the trouble of installing new appliances even if they are free. Use them in your 9th or 10th flip or put them in storage. The Sub-Zero doesn't fit the space - I have the smallest model and it is taller than what you currently have so will require removing cabinets.

I have no comment on the appliances since you stated several times there is no cost associated with them. You also stated that you will be changing the cabinets/counters/etc down the line a bit.

My first question - is this your home? are you living there?

Second - what exactly is a "vinyl wrap for cabinets" ?

Personally - I would do a paint color . I am not a fan of white everywhere.

Next, since you have remodeling experience, I would paint the lower cabinets a different color to add some life to the space. Some sort of crown molding or even a simple 3/4 thick piece of trim on top would make it look more finished and less of a builders kitchen.

The handles on the cabinets look nice, but if you want a change - why not.

Last - it needs a little bit of stuff - a nice bowl with fruit, a colorful canister - make it look like someone lives there.
