Sage green and yellow are a pretty combination, as well as gray and yellow.

Start from a neutral base.

Why do you need an accent wall? Use the same color on all the walls and unify the space. Love the sage green idea and it would work well with your rock fireplace.

I definitely agree with removing the accent wall by painting the burgundy walls with the same color as the fireplace wall.

You have a beautiful fireplace which should be your single focus. I'd pull a soft blue grey from the fireplace or a taupe and paint the entire room one colour and use pops of red or deeper grey.

I would choose a pale light tan color so that wall highlights only the fireplace, not the contrast of colors..

I never liked accent walls...& in this room it especially doesn't work with the architecture. Too light of a color will wash out in this space due to the scale of the fireplace & the high angles. I would go with, at the LEAST, a mid-tone gray such as Gray Matters from Sherwin Williams, then a lighter tint of that color (NOT white) for the ceiling. The white is making the ceiling look like a white tent. Gray will accent the warm tones of the hardwoods & fireplace.

Your windows are gorgeous and plentiful - THEY should be the accent in your room. I agree that all the walls should be the same color in order to let this happen.

The windows are beautiful. There are too any things going on in this area of your room. Paint the window wall the same colour as the others and let the f/p be the accent. At the moment it looks too bust.

I prefer an accent wall to be unpierced by windows or doors. Unify this room with one color or work in multiple colors from the same color strip.

I also recommend one paint color. You already have two eye-catchers, the main one, your fireplace, and all the windows, doors and transoms. If you are keeping the wovens, stay in that tone, but paler and creamier than the ochre.

I agree. I think the room will flow better in a single color, and those spectacular windows will be the showpiece, rather than the bits of wall around them in an accent color. You've got terrific design elements already in that room!

I agree with everyone; the fireplace is the focal point, so use it as your source of color tone. My accent wall does not compete with anything else that is an "accent", so your fireplace needs to stay the focal point. Stay neutral on the walls; the windows and doors you have trimmed in white add crispness. A very subtle creamy wall color with the white trims will look very fresh. I would also paint that little door? next to the fireplace same as the wall color; it does not need to be challenging the fireplace for attention. Matchstick roll up shades will create another texture and neutral tone. Good luck

It depends on what your plans are for the room. Please state your plans and then it will easier to give suggestions. With the stone fireplace, you can do many things to make it your focal point.

I Agree with most others, no accent wall in that room. The fireplace is amazing and should stand out as the focal. Paint it all one neutral color and accent the room with pops elsewhere. Good luck!

I, too agree about eliminating the dark burgundy and going much creamier. "Love the room, by the way!" The images that "alwaysdesigning" has included, give you beautiful choices for a similar space. You can add slashes of colour with a vibrant area rug and accessories. If your room is neutral, you can pretty much use your favourite colour, as long as you tie it together in different areas. It doesn't have to be everywhere....Look at the picture of the family room with the pale turquoise artwork, it is repeated just on the sofa with a throw, and the cushions have limited turquoise as well. Pick up a beige tone that works with the fireplace and the woven wood blinds.Have a look at Huntington Beige to see if that works. I know they were an investment so don't feel the need to toss them. Once you unify the walls with the other elements and soften the trim colour to a slightly warmer shade and then another shade on the ceiling such as Wheat Sheaf, there will be less contrast and a softer look. Bring in lamps with shades similiar shade as the walls, in the same warm tones. You may be struggling with the layout because of the angles. Ignore them and work with some straight lines using the fireplace as the focal point.

I would get rid of the accent wall. The space is already lovely with the stone fireplace and the beautiful windows. You also have a lovely ceiling that should stand out more, having an accent wall makes the room not balanced, heavier on one side. You should pick out a color from the fireplace stone, looks like grays or beiges in the picture.

Who came up with accent walls? They take away from the room. Go and get sample colors u like and start throwing it up on those walls. Do not just paint a little square and go a shade or two lighter than you think you want. Also hang some drapeery rods at the top of the wall. I think the shades are distracting or get plantation shutters? Pretty room and windows so let it shine!! Post pix when you are done. Good luck.

It entirely depends on how you want to weight that side of the room. A beautiful dark golden brown would be gorgeous and play nicely with the fireplace, flooring and other walls. But if you are seeking a lighter mood to the room, I think a moody greyish-blue (I call it an Atlantic shore blue) would be gorgeous and, along with the color on the adjacent walls, give the room more of a beachy, earthy feel. Agree with Oasis Design, Grey Matters is a great color for your space and I would do all one color to unify it.

ugh (sorry)......I like neither color. too murky or too dark. I would paint all the walls a subtle green/blue (not gray, but towards that spectrum), keep trim an oysterish color. no shades if able.......then it would seem you are bringing the outdoor sky colors in to greet the walls, or vice versa....

If you're going to do an accent color, do it on the ceiling. Breaking up the walls that way seems to make the room look smaller.

Whatever colors YOU choose, it would make more sense to put the darker one on either side of the fireplace to make it stand out..... :-)

I think one solid wall color would look nicer. I don't even paint ceilings white anymore... Maybe paint your trim or accent it with a warmer color.

I agree with arllita, a shade of blue would contrast well with your beautiful wood floor. Also agree with no accent wall.

I would do one solid neutral color - shutters on the windows ( or long neutral drapes) - the fireplace should be the focal point not an accent wall - fireplace is beautiful.

MODERN THEN GO on 1 wall: 1st idea: med-dark grey and then go lighter shades in the same family: accents with any color of your choosing. 2nd idea: dark brown- molasses, or chocolate chip and lighter shades in the same family color. Stay away from yellow, greens and blue=country, or traditional=too common.

Do not like "accent" walls. use all one color - like many of the color recommendations give already.

I just painted my two-toned rooms (green/yellow) by replacing the yellow with BMs Cloud White (a pale cream). It makes the room so much brighter, crisper, looks nice up against a pure white trim colour too. And if you have oak floors or trim it is gorgeous with them. It makes the green look better too. In your case, the first thing I'd change is the window shades they ruin the lines of your windows and stand out like a sore thumb. If you really need the privacy, go with white blinds or shades. I'd paint all your walls the same colour. The yellow ocre is too cool for your warm floors and the accent colour is too dark. With all the light and white trim I'd choose a medium warm blue (think Delft blue), a soft warm grey, beige or warm green.

Try a wallpaper accent wall with a nice pattern that's the same color as your other walls. Otherwise, like many other posters said, keep all the walls the same color. I'm particularly in love with Farrow & Ball's railings color right now, and I think it would look great against the white trim.

I would use "Sand" color on all wall due to the blinds they show ..The red/burgandy was just way to dark....Gorgeous room I will say, Love it....... I'm not crazy about the blinds but they are costly, so keep them..what would have been better is plantation shutters..or crisp white 3 inch blind....or the white fabric blinds, forget what they call them , they open from bottom or top almost disappearing when closed..but they probably have them for some privacy..If woods & no neighbors behind house I'd leave the windows Naked lol...IF they were taking down the blinds..I'd use a light Lime or light tangerine on all the walls....depends n the color scheme they love...

It's a beautiful room - good decision!!!

Paint the Burgundy walls the same yellow as on the opposing wall, and use a chocolate brown on the walls either side of the fire place. Also, try painting the ceiling too. The color's bring the room, and everything in it, together. Lovely room by the way, that ceiling is divine!

P.S: If you wanted to change the look altogether a navy blue accent wall would go nicely (but only on ONE wall - you could get away with two strategically chosen walls).

One other tip to share... try 1/2 (or 1/4) formula of your wall paint on the ceiling for a soft glow rather than harsh white ceiling paint.

Welcome aboard HOUZZ! I actually painted 4" and 6" stripes on the lower half of the walls in a basement rec-room for a friend, exactly the same colours in your room, and the top half was painted the solid gold colour. So she has a "circus tent" in her basement......It actually looks really fun, but I'm sure she'll tire of it in the next little while.
