Good feedback, was trying to get out of cutting the stone at top because of the unevenness of the ceiling

The rest of your room doesn't have a moulding, so I think it would be VERY strange to have one here. Sorry. :)

Also, not sure from the picture because it's taken close up, but the mantel looks too high.

That stone was the wrong choice IMO and the molding at the ceiling is not a good idea. I think 2 accent walls are one yoo many that and that stone was never meant to be used inside and is a dated look even outside . How did you handle the corners ? IMO the mantel is too high and way too heavy looking even with all that stone

You need to. The stone needs to look like it should the chimney. Ideally it would run past the drywall and the drywall would but into. A moulding would make it look like you cheaped out with the entire fireplace.

Agree with everyone. Stone to go to ceiling with no moulding.
