Best way to remove/sell custom closets?

I recently moved into a house that has an entire room that is a walk-in closet. I have no use for all of this closet space, which is in the basement, two floors below my bedroom. I would save some of the drawers and shelves, but I would like to have most of it removed, and I am hoping to sell off a lot of the pieces.

I’m sure I could get a carpenter to remove these, but I’m wondering if there are people who specialize in this who would know exactly how to remove them without damaging the walls too much. I also like to have some idea as to what these items might be worth for resale. I’m guessing the room cost between $20,000 and $30,000. several people have already expressed some interest in the contents, but I have no idea what I should be charging.

Any thoughts on how best to handle this?

Even if you don’t need the space for clothes, wouldn’t it be nice to use that storage for household items? Small kitchen appliances that aren’t used frequently, holiday serving pieces, out of season boots and shoes, etc.

I really don’t need the space. Plenty of room elsewhere in the house and I run pretty lean. I will use a small portion of it for photos, craft supplies (possibly…I have space elsewhere) and tools.

I could provably use the space made available by removing the shelves etc more readily

You may get $500 on marketplace. The flip side of custom is that it doesn’t fit in someone else’s space.

Agree. Probably Closets By Design. I might reach out to them after the holiday. I’m wondering if any specialized knowledge is needed to remove them without wreaking too much havoc on the walls.
