Hi, I’ve been reading that beadboard ceilings should have a little sheen- thoughts?

Satin finish all trim. The bead board ceiling: What room is this? Can you show it? It's fine in same Chantilly with NO more sheen than the satin. Otherwise? It could be an opportunity to feel a bit like the palest sky, but who knows as we don't know what room, where : )

    It's not a boat, correct? : )

IMO matte I have no idea where you read ceinings of any materil should have sheen. Lighting is awful in a shny ceiling you get weird relflections and not a nice look at all. Since we do not know what your space looks like that is all the help I can give . Yes to the satin on the trim but IMO the same as the walls for the ceiling or I do sometimes love a really pale blue on a ceiling.

I would do a flat ceiling. Even with bead board.

I would not do satin or any sheen on a ceiling. Flat, or matte at the least (I prefer flat), for ceilings. A sheen on a ceiling shows every single imperfection.

Yup. I have a drywall ceiling painted with flat ceiling paint and one can still see every flaw when viewing the ceiling at an angle. Go flat (example).

Hi, definitely want to do white ceiling ( I love the pale blue on old Victorian front porch ceilings but this one will be white. Just trying to figure out best paint/finish for the job).

It will need primer and two coats of paint.

Prime and use a low sheen paint (flat or matte) for the first coat. If it looks good, continue with the second coat. If not, use satin for the 2nd coat.

Use a good enamel trim paint.

i’ve done BB ceilings and plank ceilings in both pearl and satin finish and was very happy with both. Having a good painter is key so no lap marks are visible

I would definitely use something washable i.e. having a sheen

or a washable matte. Porch ceilings can get quite dirty over time!
