Perhaps I am misreading your post, but something seems off with the floor plan. You say the scale is 1’ per square. Is it perhaps a scale of 1/2’ per square?

Counting squares and using 1’ scale, the room measures 27’ x 28’ and the rug 24’ long (not 12’).

Have you considered moving the sideboard down a bit towards the kitchen passage so it is centered on the table? Or to the opposite wall if better for traffic flow.
