Definitely do not get faux marble. There’s more than enough fake marble In North America, be it manmade quartz or laminate. They all look so abviously fake, so what’s the point?

Do you have a recommendation for what color Wilsonart laminate to use with the white cabinets?

If the cabinets are installed post a picture of the kitchen. Also, what is the flooring like? That can have an impact on the choice of countertop.

wilsonart has a series called " FX " I believe. Its more durable than the others. [thicker wear layer] you want that w renters. Personally Id pick an entry level granite for the competitive price and the unbeatable durability. dont think youre doing yourself a good deed , long term, with cheaper formica. I like formica / I have some formica / but it will scratch nick and burn if care is not used on a routine basis.

I would suggest something like Basalt Slate by Formica, it looks great and has a nice subtle textured finish.

That does look nice. Thank you for the suggestion. I believe the building company my contractor uses carries Wilsonart brand. Does Wilsonart have a laminate similar to the Formica ?

I have used basalt slate for a project and it was fine. I have plain Wilsonart laminate in my kitchen. A subtle pattern would probably be better in rental but I tend to like things that don't try to look like anything else. The Wilsonart site has a good search engine.

I agree no more fake marble. like that slate one it is simple which IMO a must in a rental. I actually would do a less expensive granite for a rental no damge from hot pots and often can be had for not much more than laminate .

A custom laminate counter will cost as much as a Group A granite, and not be able to do an undermount sink without costing much more. Laminate is a GREAT choice for many situations. But it is not really a budget option anymore.

Wilsonart has a soapstone imitation that looks somewhat similar but I haven't seen the actual sample so I can't compare to the Formica Basalt Slate.
