For any suggestions, you need to post a floorplan showing all dimensions, doors, windows, openings, etc. Impossible to tell just from your pictures the possibilities of what can be done, keep in mind we're not in your house to see the details.

You posted your pictures as if you want us to vote. That's not working.

• Turn on all the lights,
• turn your phone sideways they way real estates agents photograph homes that are for sale and
• take photos that are informative (visually explain the issue you want to resolve)

Do a to scale floor plan of the whole space you want to change . Do the plan on grph paper show every window , doorway where those lead and every measurement clearly marked . Post here in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT START another post. BTW I dislike kitchens open to LRS so once we see the plan maybe we will understand that choice . From what I see the kitchen looks quite large and the backside of that wall is a FP how will you handle that ? I need to plan and answers to our questions which are also dealt with here in comments .

So you are taking out the wall with the coffee pot and fridge? You don't show what is on the other side of that wall unless it is the TV and fireplace pictured. Hmm don't quite get the floor plan from these photos.

Yes, it’s the tv and fireplace (which isn’t actually a fireplace, it’s just stone veneer and an electric fireplace. I’m drawing up some floor plans!

If you can move the fridge, you could create an island there in place of the wall.

That was my thought but there is actually a chimney right behind the fridge so we can’t take the entire thing out. We have a wood stove in the basement.

Is the chimney made of brick? If not you could clad the stovepipe in a brick column. Work the island around it and maybe paint the brick and/or add more brick somewhere to tie it in? Brick backsplash? Or another matching column?

I’m assuming it is but not sure what it looks like behind the wall. I definitely like the idea of completely opening the wall if we can.

A big opening in the wall works fine. My SIL did that and it's great. Added a bar at bar height and stools. She could watch TV finally from the kitchen.

Thanks for the like. She came home and DH and son had broken a hole and opened the wall above the cooktop while she was gone a couple hours. Pretty easy setup for them to install a granite countertop. (They are handy). Only took about a week in all. She got a downdraft fan because the hood was gone.

As everyone mentioned, we can't help you without a floor plan with all measurements. First take overall of each area, then go around the perimeter of the rooms and measure everything. Best to start in a corner and work your way around each area. Better to measure the entire floor, Living room, dining room, kitchen and entrance and any other area adjacent. I would be happy to do a scaled plan for you. You will get amazing design advice here by many very talented people.
