Your room requires a dining table and chairs. You can either select round or rectangular, either shape will fit.

How many do you want to seat? The table needs to be at least 3 feet from a wall to accommodate a chair and the space to walk behind.

The chandelier should be centered above the table.

Unless you really need the storage space I might suggest removing the cabinetry in your dining room. It seems to crowd your dining table and chairs. Perhaps the cabinetry could be used elsewhere in your home. That would allow you to center the dining table and chairs without the crowding.

It depends on taste, style, color preference, budget and what you had in mind (chandelier, window treatment, painting, rug, art?). If it were me, I’d remove the upper row of cabinets and add shelving with lights. Will you be keeping the lower half molding treatment?

Every time we moved, I poured over inspiration pictures (and saved) and played around with layouts based on room‘s dimensions. Suggest doing that and give yourself time to settle in, consider how room feels, connects to adjoining spaces, etc and you’ll be in a better position to make decisions. In the meantime, try to find on line rooms that appeal to you/suit your dining set.

Will you be renting, or owning? It makes a big difference in whether you can remove cabinetry, or not.

Waht is it you want . I think the set up is good as it is I do not love the cabinetry but if you need storage is works . You give us no info so all we do is guess.

We own. We have very similar furniture/decor as shown. I like all of the items that they already have but don’t have that magic touch of rearranging to make it flow naturally. These are my styles: American classic, Scandinavian. I love natural, light, airy but at the same time timeless, classic.

IMO a larg e piece of art on that wall across from the cabinets will visually have better balance . I would do solar shades to keep the view and control heat and UV and then drapes that actually work to cover the window at night so at least 2.5x as wide as the rod no skimpy panels thta IMO just look silly

Yeah I don’t like these blinds either-the only reason we keep them there for now is if we open the blinds our neighbors kitchen window is about 5 feet away and we can see directly in. There used to be a tree blocking that view but it’s dwindling-that’s another dilemma of ours bc I’d love to just keep these windows open but need some privacy and redesign the outdoor space.

What about in the little nook in the middle of the cabinets? How would you decorate that?

Paint all the walls the same white as the cabinets, as others have suggested. get a longer drapery rod and less skimpy drapes in linen in the same white. Larger brighter chandelier and additional built in lights. no floor lamps.

What about wallpaper that butterfly wall? lol I’m pretty sure I would lose all my patience trying anything like that but just a thought 🤣. Those are sheer white curtains- what would you recommend? Like thicker?

No to the rectangular black lantern light. Too repetitive of the rectangula wall cabinet vibe, which you are trying to down play. Don’t love the idea of wallpaper either in here - too much for the eye to compete with already. Blend everything together instead of making new focal points.

lol yes I love your thinking-that’s what I want to do but I just don’t know what to hang there to bring it all together. I’m going to paint the walls for sure a neutral light color

Agree with toning down all the contrast in the room -

art is hard to recommend for other people, get the dimensions for the opening and be patient - I think you’ll eventually find something you love - it’s totally fine empty

I would hang a collection of vintage transferware plates & platters in the opening but everyone is different
