Decision time: Miele or Wolf Induction range

last year

Hello there!

We are planning a kitchen Reno for next year and would like to purchase the range before the annual (and maybe tariff) price increases.

We really like the Wolf 30” induction range but the Miele’s steam function is very appealing. We do a lot of the cooking on the stovetop, but like the oven for roasting chicken and veggies. It would be nice to bake bread and pizza more and a good range might encourage that. We also plan on getting a subzero fridge but are not committed to one brand.

Does anyone have any advice on the following models. The pricing reflects what I can get with my trade accounts.

Miele HR1622: $7300

Miele HR1422: $6500

Wolf IR30450: h6000 (new open box with warranty)

Thank you.

Have you compared the spec sheets for these? For example, the Miele models have knobs and the Wolf has digital controls for the cooktop. The Wolf has bridge elements but the Miele appliances don't.

Have you read the user guides? These have fancy-pants oven controls with menu guides and the like but omit simple, easy-to-use controls like those on more pedestrian ranges? For example, compare the oven controls of the Miele HR1422 (page 23) with its inconsistent methods to set the temperature and timers -- and its tiny icons -- to the touch panel of the CR-recommended LG LSIS6338FE with its large keypad and text oven mode indicators.

I have the Meile induction with M touch and moisture plus. I’m amazed by the oven. My partner has a new meile gas ranger with the less fancy oven and he is very disappointed he did not get the fancy m touch oven. I’ve only had the range for a few months. I also am a big cook. The oven has so many features it’s hard to understand all of them and the manual is terrible. But the various features are shockingly good. I made some chicken thighs that were so crispy you would have thought they were fried , it does super low heat super high heat. Amazing convection etc. really amazing
I just wish their instructions were a bit better. Re the induction stove top. My first induction. I really like the knobs. I had considered Wolff but wanted knobs. I like the booster function and the auto heat on the stovetop. . Auto heat is great. You want to go to a certain low level heat but speed to the process so it start’s high then drops to the heat level you aimed for. Booster is just a super fast boil. Amazing.

I’m very impressed with my range. I’m still learning what functions work for me and when to use moisture plus, etc. I would definitely get the Miele with m touch. As it’s such an amazing oven. But I am a foodie and like technology.

Ps. Re the induction stove top. I think thermador is considered to have the better induction. As Miele doesn’t have some features. But the oven in Miele is really amazing. I think if you wanted the best you would get a stove top maybe by thermador and a steam oven by Miele Moisture plus is not a full steam function. But I could really only fit a range.
