Roses in my Texas backyard

last year

Despite another year of challenging Texas weather that feels like riding on a rollercoaster, I'm truly grateful for the roses that have made it so far. Next year will be my 5th year in growing roses. The journey has been so interesting, full of new learning curves and surprises. Cheers to more beauties in 2025 to all of you rose lovers.

Another vote for Crazy Love. Wish it was available here. I was pleased to see Bordeaux. I don't think I've ever seen it posted on here. I'm thinking about getting it.

Wonderful pics! Does Crazy Love repeat well for you? Several of my friends back in Dallas have said that Spirit of Freedom does very well there.

Crazy Love is available from Edmunds Roses. I think it's own root. They also have a grafted Scentuous. Diane

@titian1 10b Sydney I wonder if it goes by a different name in other countries. It's a Kordes rose and it's amazing. Colors change based on temperature.

@BenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14) It blooms some during the summer, but like most roses, don't like its best. It looks absolutely amazing during spring and fall, repeats well. I get to enjoy this rose for several months each fall.

@BenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14) Spirit of Freedom rose is performing amazingly well all year round. I have had it since 2021, it has really impressed me.

Hi, Roses InHouston, unfortunately, i don't think it's reached here yet, I'm keeping my eye out though, as one of our growers specialises in Kordes.

Thanks, Eustace. I tried that too. No joy. We're a bit behind here. To give you an example, the latest DAs to be released here are Imogen and The Ancient Mariner. And lots of roses never make it here, though we do get some that aren't released elsewhere, except South Africa. And we're a great deal luckier with Tantaus than the US has been.
