Let me preface this by saying I am a decor expert, but I think that couch would be lovely in your setting.

The sofa is pretty but I would suggest a warm tone velvet…a gold...rust…..latte or even a olive green.

Do you have pets? The sofa is lovely but those tufts will fill with dust and pet hair no matter how fastidious you are.

It’s a beautiful sofa and I think would look great in your space with existing furnishings. I have to say that @roarah note on the tufts & cleaning did give me pause….something I never thougt about with the tufts but she’s right! I have a beautiful small white single coated dog. She doesn’t shed like many double coated dogs do but more like people do & the white is a beacon of light on dark clothing!

We cant read that tape measure but here is my thoughts.

The chairs need to cozy more to the fireplace. Everything is backed to a wall which makes the space seem disjointed. My question is how do you plan to use this room? Does it really need a sofa or could the two chairs face the fireplace with added foot rests thus keeping an more open feel. Also you need a rug. The walls are so white and the furniture is beige and gold. Are you keeping that coffee table? pastel colors might be better.

The sofa is lovely and I think would look good in your space, but I wonder if you purchase it if you will soon be asking what to do about the odd empty bay window area behind your sofa.

Will you be able to easily reach behind the sofa to adjust the shutters do you plan to leave them in one position all of the time?

How often do you plan to use this room and who will be sitting in it?

How about a navy velvet chusion made for the window seat and bringing the chairs off the wall towards the seat?

The tufts would be a big no for me, even if not thinking about pets. I’m certainly no compulsive upholstery- vacuumed, but I need to be able to run a hand ir Clint brush or damp cloth over fabrics at times & especially last- minute when I suddenly notice something!

I also agree , potentially, about the dark color in your room. It’s a nice near- neutral, but with the other chairs being so light , do you have a plan for blending the high contrast, using rug, art, pillows? I say that because a lot of times people get different colors tgat ought to “ go” together, but have such different levels of contrast , or something, that the room doesn’t actually come together. So sometime a less stark contrast— one light fabric and another a medium- dark-, or that spectrum, very dark plus medium, works better for the larger pieces.

I am not sure about the tufts either, but, I do love the sofa and think, it would be gorgeous in your room.

Velvet is easy to clean with pets if you have any I wouldn't want to sit on buttons but it's fine on the back where your back Lays

I love the suggestion from Home Interiors with Ease to consider an olive green couch. I love the color palette in this room, and think it would suit your room.

That’s a great sale—if you love it, do it. Then pull your furniture away from the walls as suggested above. Spend some time looking at photos of well designed living rooms, and notice, the furniture is never backed up onto the walls, but arranged for comfortable conversation and flow (notice everything in your furniture store is probably arranged that way too).

Thanks for your input everyone. I’ve tried pulling the furniture away from the walls and floating it more for conversation but because the living room is not as wide, it makes it awkward to get around the furniture in order to get to the office and we use the office a lot I appreciate the input. Since this living room isn’t used very much, not worried about the tufting. (We tend to use our open concept family room and kitchen more). I ended up going with the blue couch and excited for its arrival next week!

I figured you already had decided on it..you posted just yesterday…for that sale price I would have ordered a warmer velvet so the room would not look so cold.

Joanna, I can’t really tell how wide the room is but it’s too bad to cover up that great window seat feature. Would it work to pull the sofa forward & turn the chairs so they face each other with the lamp tables at ends between chairs & sofa? You’d have to remove the coffee table. My thought is the walkway would then be behind the sofa & the result would be a conversation grouping around the FP.
