kitchen Island Spacing

I’m in the process of designing a kitchen with the goal of fitting an 8’ island. After a number of iterations we landed on one that mostly works but we are concerned about the space between the island and fridge. The side of the island that will have seating is in the same pathway that the fridge is in. It is a 36” fridge with 54” space to the island.
The concern is that someone will need to get out of their seat if sitting at the island if someone wants to open the fridge.

Dimensions would help us help you. The size of the island is determined by clearances, don’t try to squeeze in an island that doesn’t fit. 54 does seem to tight of there are stools, I would be more comfortable with 60” counter to fridge handle but I can’t tell much from the drawing

Definitely too tight. Here is a visual for you….(although my fridge is further down the aisle so there is no conflict with the stools). My fridge door is 30” (which is open in this pic). The isle space is 50” from edge of counter to the handle on the fridge when it is closed. Works fine with stools pushed in, but if the stools were adjacent to the fridge, those sitting there would have to get up if anyone wanted access to the fridge. So, even though your isle has an additional 4” compared to what’s shown here, if you have a fridge with a 36” door, it simply would not work. Even with a Dutch door fridge, it would be an issue.
