What is the flooring adjacent to the current tile? Is it hardwood? If so, I’d either extend the hardwood into the kitchen or replace the tile with different tile.

I appreciate your feedback. The flooring in both rooms is wore out so that is why we are replacing. Very open to suggestions for other flooring. Here are photos of the whole space if anyone has suggestions or can show me a visual that would be do helpful!

Definitely please do not do that floor. It’s much too grey with your existing wood. Try to find a laminate wood or engineered wood that is a few shades lighter than your existing wood tone. If you can swing it to do it throughout the adjoining space as that will be a better investment over time/future resale. I’d avoid vinyl if possible but that’s just my personal opinion.

I wondered if it was a little cool for the room. We want to keep the room from being too dark so that is why we chose lighter flooring, but maybe we found the wrong color. This convo is helping! Thank you!

Yes, follow the advice from @thinkdesignlive and bring home lots of samples. This is easier to do if you are working with a flooring store and not the big box.

When you have narrowed it down to 2 (or certainly no more than 3), you might need to buy 1 box and lay it out in your space. That way you can see variations that are not obvious from just a small sample.

You need a WARM wood tone with that. And a new backsplash, and something other than the dated gray paint that clashes.

This is going to be very messy and expensive. You need to get it right.

Please no gray flooring. It was a bad idea when first introduced and hasn’t improved with age. A medium toned warm oak floor either engineered or site finished throughout the space would be my choice.

Thank you! I can see how the warmer pictures look a lot better. At first we wanted the lighter shade but the medium/darker flooring in the images looks better to me.

I like the first and third flooring ideas! The darker ones seem to look better with the other colors in our home. Would you guys suggest putting a rug under the dining table? Any suggestions? Thank you again!!

I personally like a rug under a table in a separate dining room. It adds warmth and interest (color and pattern). But in a kitchen it would depend on whether you have small children and what type of rug. I have a braided rug under the table in my vacation home. It's been there for over 30 years and it has held up very well. It's easy to vacuum and doesn't show the dirt. We had it when our kids were little and now with the grandkids. I wouldn't do a pile rug in a kitchen, nor would I do a light colored plain rug. But that's your choice.
