Sherry can't get on Houzz

last year

I've received email messages from Sherry saying she can no longer get on Houzz. Brad, if you or anyone else, has suggestions for how she could remedy this, please let me know. Her issues with not being able to log on started Christmas week. She won't be able to moderate the Alphabet next week.

Here was the message I received from her last night:

"You won't be seeing me on the garden forum any more. I have had six calls with Houzz and not NO help. I can't log in or create a new account. I just don't understand what the problem is. Houzz won't work on any of the devices we have here. No one in Customer Service even knows what the Garden Forum is. I am at a loss here. Could you please pass on the news that I am unable to participate and really bummed about it?"

    What comes to mind:

    1. Clear all the cookies and junk from the web browsers she uses. Go to the 3 lines or dots at the top right of her browser, choose settings from the drop down menu, then privacy & security, clear all cache and cookies. She will be logged out of anything she is logged into so make sure she knows her passwords. On the phones, go to settings, apps, choose the browser, then clear data and cache. This often fixes things.

    2. What web browser is she using? Chome is the common one; Microsoft edge is what some who are on windows use as it is default, but there are better options. I suspect all the devices she has have the same browser [chrome] so have the same issue.

She should download & try a couple of others. Brave is a good up and coming one, like Chrome but more secure. For ones that work differently [but she should have no trouble with them, the differences are mainly internal behind the scenes], Firefox, Duck Duck Go Browser, and Safari come to mind. On the computer, just do internet searches to find them. On the phones, go to the play or app store.

    3. Another idea: Call her internet provider. There may be something blocking houzz

EDIT: UPON rethinking this & a suggestion from my daughter, FIRST try resetting your modem and router [turn off for 5 minutes]. Then try number 3. Do number 1 regardless, a good thing to do for everyone!! Try 2 last.

I am here again, I hope. I don’t know how you all got to the gardenweb pages but I was using the Houzz app to get here. The app doesnt work to get to the garden section any more for me. The app didnt recognize my acct, told me it had no information repeatedly. After repeated attempts at logging in etc. I have to use Gardenweb.com to get here. Maybe thats how you all got here? One of the support people had me change my ID and password….it didnt help at the time…not sure if it made a difference in the end.

This has been so frustrating… I cant begin to tell you how much time I spent trying to figure out this mess, I tried it all. Hubby is pretty knowledgeable with this stuff. He is convinced the problem is Houzz.

Things seem to be working now. I will make an attempt to host the alphabet starting Monday, fingers crossed😳🤞🏻

Glad to see you back on! Yes, I don't use the app.

I rarely use any apps, Sherry, except for the bank. Unless they are for your local store, doctor, bank, etc. they are not safe. And the big companies [amazon, dept. stores etc.] use their apps to steal your info and sell it. When I have looked into apps, most don't really work well. I did use google maps app on my phone, but it stopped working about a week or so ago. They changed things and people are complaining left and right.

So for most things, I use the computer except for listening to pod casts or youtube channels. And even these are on the web, not an app.

Yay! I'm so glad you managed to get back on. I don't use the app either.

I also post on the hosta forum. I was just there a few minutes ago and seems at least three of the posters there have had the same problem for about three weeks just like me.
