Per Te, Rose Barni - am I insane?myth

I’ve always enjoyed looking at Rose Barni’s web site, but figured actuallly buying from them was impossible.

Now,, however, they are claiming to ship bare roots internationally. It does not say they won’t ship to the US.

They have Pink Intuition — but not bare root, alas. They do have this amazing rose called Per Te which I could not find on HMF.

Anyone ever order bareroots from Rose Barni?Anyone know anything about Per Te?

Grazie.

I don’t know where “myth” came from. Somewhere mythical, no doubt.

Sylvia, you might want to also post this question to the UK/Europe thread, which is pretty active. Presumably, many of them are familiar with Barni.

Also, as the author of the thread, you should have the option to edit it so you can remove the word "myth" :-D

OOPS! By mistake, I "liked" my own post!

Bart, if you click again on the "like" button, it will remove your "like".

I like my own posts occasionally, and sometimes I accidentally unlike posts I've liked. It all works out with another click. The whole liking thing is kind of nuts. I was going to say that I visit the UK/Eur thread a lot and I haven't seen them mention Barni. They've been ordering bare roots for the past several weeks from places known by their initials, and I haven't the faintest who those rose sellers are.

Evey time I see the title Par Te, my brain says Partay--it's party time. Groan. Diane

bart bart, its ok if you like your own post. I liked it too :)

Z10, is the rose you posted commercially available? Grown from seed implies rarity. Not to mention difficulty.😏

Bart Bart, your perspective is needed! I’m better off knowing your experience.

Susan and Diane, I lurk daily on the UK/EUR thread and occasionally comment. It’s free travel to England, Scotland, and the mainland of Europe—from Aberdeen to Italy. Yes, I do know they haven’t mentioned Rose Barni, and one of the reasons I posted this was to draw them out. Bart Bart’s advice was exactly what I needed to hear.

I do think the colors in Rose Barni’s catalogue are oversaturated. Everything’s just a little too much. Or is it my monitor?
I do think the colors in Rose Barni’s catalogue photos look levers

Sylvia , Helen grew it. That is her Instagram.

Helen's rose looks pretty bright, too.

Sylvia, maybe we've seen too many "florist rose" bouquets lately. Often they have pale, insipid colors in those massed bouquets. I hate to bring up Grace Rose Farm, but her roses on the email she sends me all have the same wan coloration. So, perhaps, Barni's roses are more normal color, but we Americans are not used to honest color. That's my geezer theory, and it's probably just hogwash. Diane

Some of Barni's photos are of a poor quality , but I vastly prefer that over the artsy "florist rose bouquets" that have been inundating this forum recently. That latter type of photo comes across to me as plain false advertising, Barni just is more concentrated on actually growing and breeding roses, not "marketing". Their plants are good, and honestly priced.

    Sorry to chip in..

I had mailed Barni back in December and confirmed they would not be shipping roses (even bare roots) to UK.. The response to my query was swift as well. If anyone wants to submit your query via website..

No, Cooldoc, I, at least are glad you posted! You are most welcome on the thread.

Ever since Brexit,we can't get stuff from England so I'm not surprised to hear that it works the other way around, too.
