A daylilies 2025

last year
last modified: last year

Hi all, happy new year! I spent three weeks not being able to log on to Gardenweb! I finally figured it out and am happy to say it wasn’t anything I did. I also post on the hosta forum……several posters there were unable to log on. It was a Houzz problem again.

Back to business. Here are my few A daylilies, please show us yours.

This is Awesome Artist. It was a noid until I a few weeks ago. I have to do a better job marking when I move plants. I‘m surprised it has survived here considering the hybridizer, Lambertson.

My oldie Autumn Minaret, the official bloom machine.

Anzac blooming in the shade.

Maryl, love your new daylily. What gorgeous color! I sure hope it survives your weather.

Hooray for the alphabet posts. It seems to make the time toward spring go faster.

A Little Crabby is a cute small diploid.

This is one of Debra's seedlings--Abilene Lillian X Ruby Lipstick.

    Absolute Ripper

Alan Lane Agin is not a good performer here.

That's all the A's I photographed this past season.

Sherry - I'm so glad you're back and able to do the alphabet for us! Like Maryl, I enjoy your clumps shots that show companion plants with them. Awesome Artist is one of Lambertson's early registrations that may have been created when he lived in New York. His earlier ones were so much hardier than his later Florida cultivars.

Maryl - I like the color of your new one!

Nancy - My seedling looks good for you. The petal color was lighter in Nashville.

Here are some of my A's. I'm only posting the ones I still have.

All of My Love to You

    Applique

    Armed to the Teeth

    Absolute Ripper

    All America Chief

Debra jinxed us, as Mother Nature decided that a transplant should get a good taste of a northern winter (and Mother Nature has been mean in the last few years). We had nine inches of snow, and I did not find it a winter wonderland. Streets are still unplowed. At least the plants are insulated with bitter cold coming.

A Lot Like Love is a Davisson that I don't see getting deserved attention. Flowers are large and held well above the foliage here. Good substance.

Alone Again is not the largest in this color by Curt, but it has intense color.

Ain't She Nice is a delicious shade of pink. It is, like many of the older Stamiles, not that well budded, but acceptable.

Ashwood Magic Crystal is one of Norris that is not well distributed.

Addicted to Love is a Davisson that looked good last year. It was recently divided, but showed well. Not as tall as many D's, and not fast multiplying, but nice color.

Aquas Azul is a Hanson that is early blooming.

Ashwood Summer Sunshine looked good in this pic, but it does not bloom as heavily as parent Sherry Lane Carr.

Abraham Lincoln was recently divided. It looked good, but bloomed at a time when we were thrust into an inferno.

Ashwood Dark Side is deep and velvety. Segments have an old-fashioned narrow form.

Alpha and Omega. The flower can be gorgeous. The plant habit is shorter than desired.

Mantis, I love the color on Alone Again. I don’t think I have any of Curt’s plants.

Usually our weather is similar, not this time. We just got a dusting of snow.

Mantis: I always enjoy seeing your Norris plants. Has anyone heard how he is doing since he lost his wife? What state do you live in (if you care to say). I always look at the map of my friends when snowstorms like this current one roll in................Debra: I look forward to seeing what you deemed good enough to follow you to Indiana. Especially those that aren't used in your breeding program, but are just some of your favorites. I'm glad All American Chief made the cut. What a striking red color...........Nan: I grew Alan Lane Agin and the color was pretty, but it didn't make it over it's first winter here. Not a UF fan as a rule, but there are some that are exceptions. A Little Crabbie looks to be one of those. I like it......... Maryl

Sherry - I originally posted Absolute Treasure, and then decided not to post any that I no longer possessed and deleted the photo. Apparently I had not deleted the name. Absolute Treasure was one that performed very well last season in Nashville after years of languishing.

Mantis - I have 7-8 inches of snow in my yard. My street did get salted and plowed multiple times though because it's a fire road. I was so happy to find that out! You posted a lot of pretty ones. I think my favorites are Aquas Azul and Addicted to Love.

Richard Norris visited the estate last summer to view the great performance of his Joe Burrow. He was accompanied by a female friend.

All American Chief looks great in Debra's former garden. Usually a reliable performer, it was crippled by unrelenting heat here and absence of rain.

Maryl, it's Mantis__oh, with the abbreviation for Ohio. It's southeastern Ohio, Athens.

Mantis: Funny how I have seen your name for many years now and never thought of the Oh as Ohio. I was thinking along the lines of OH Maryl.............It's good to hear Mr. Norris is still out and about. Did he mention about selling daylilies again on line?...... I looked up Joe Burrow. A pretty face if the colors stay vivid. That's one tall daylily too. My height.........Maryl

Frigid temps with just a dusting of white mulch. I will be curious to see if the seeds I planted directly in the ground the first week of December will sprout in the Spring. Here are my A's:

AIN'T SHE NICE: Gorgeous pink but not well budded.

ALL THINGS TO AL MEN: Can be splotchy at times. When it is not, it is gorgeous.

ANGELS ON OUR SHOULDERS: New to the garden this past Spring.

APACHE WAR DANCE: Striking red in the garden

ALPHA AND OMEGA: I need to stop moving it so it can get settled in. I believe that I have found a permanent spot for it.

So…haven’t disappeared! Just incredibly busy as I plan on retiring this year. So still working my school districts while also closing an office has been time consuming. I won’t be able to keep up with the alphabet but will check in to comment.

Cold here with winter watch in effect for Friday-could be nothing or several inches of snow.

Sherry, Anzac has always seemed to be a reliable bloomer for you.

Maryl, I do like the color on Angel Kim. Hope it is tough and survives for you.

Debra, these are nice ones you transported. A great picture of Armed to the Teeth. I hope All American Chief performs as well for you in your new garden as it did in Nashville.

Mantis, Ashwood Magic Crystal is a pretty one and I always like Stamile pinks.

David, All Things For All Men is so striking.

Everyone stay warm and safe this winter!

David - All Things for All Men is pretty. I still have that one, but apparently I didn't photograph it last year. It was always splotchy for me in Nashville. Maybe it will do better in Indiana. I keep it because it makes such pretty babies.

Running late on the posts. We had about 8 inches of snow with an ice storm mixed in. And we were out of power for about 10 hours. Needless to say, quite busy! Sunny today but still frozen, with ice all over everything. Tomorrow another 4-6 inches of snow predicted.

And on top of all this, my main computer where all the daylily pics are stopped connecting to the internet. Have to deal with the warranty issues now.

I copied last years folder to a laptop so i can post here.

Sherry, My favorite is Awesome Arts. And I agree, I like the mix of flowers in some of your pics.

Maryl, Angel Kim is quite pretty.

Nancy, My favorite of yours today is the seedling from Deborah.

Debra, All My Love to You really strikes me today.

Mantis, Alone Again and Aquas Asul are both beautiful.

David, Alpha and Omega is quite pretty! It deserves a home!

Allegheny Skyline is a very good bloomer.

Astral Voyager. I got this the same year as Allegheny above from Debra and love them both.

    Applique

    Amethyst Art, my only double

Art Gallery Expressionism. Say goodbye, it is gone. I blooms so rarely & so few it is not worth the space.

    that's all.

Brad - It's nice to see Allegheny Skyline was a good bloomer for you. It's one I intended to move, but I ran out of time. Astral Voyager and Applique are always so much darker in your garden than they were in mine.
