cant tell much of anything from the above ....but you have two wall areas around the window and corners to play with. maybe storage isnt the exact word but i wouldnt rule out display. Consider what you may already own in the category of books/ collectibles/ vintage wares pottery/ china etc. putting those things on display in a way that you choose is aesthetic because it is your history and preferences that people get to enjoy. the room looks cleared out as for a real estate listing......usually that is not a real life situation.

I think it would look a bit more updated if you got a longer curtain rod (maybe 8-10” of rod on each side of the window), stacked the drapes on the outside of the window frame, and let them hang straight to the floor.

I like chicagoans idea for drapes - and I’d also use them on one side of the sliding door. I’d keep the decor simple and add sconces on either side of the window for nice ambient light at night. You can get battery operated sconces so that you don’t have to hardwire them.

Yes, widen the curtains. They look mighty skimpy and off as is. The hang artwork to the left of the entrance door.

do you have any inspiration pics? its true there is a "best way" to hang rods and fabric panels. but the wall space is more square feet than the window, by far, to consider options. There is the option for a tailored or omission of window treatment and proceed w decor . . its a nice spacious area.

here are omitted window treatments [if no privacy issues] or a tailored/ custom treatment , considering just a single window . then you can really think over the possibilities along the wall spaces.
