I should add that this is a townhome in a strict HOA community so I cannot change any paint colors.

Are the chairs decoration or do you actually want to sit on this porch?

It looks pretty small so I would have put two planters there flanking the door

Pondering your porch, oh the classic door!, you KEPT it! Photos to come, time permitting, but for now, easy little fix for corner, cane rocker? Wicker/rattan also, but cane is usually a little simpler?

I’m in an HOA as well. I think three potted plants are your best bet. Matching on each side of the door and the third for a bit of asymmetry. Keep it simpler. Chairs aren’t likely to be used.

The stoop doesn't seem conducive for porch sitting.

Maybe one chair can be placed and accessorized but two will be too much IMO.

I agree with your comment, Beverly, but if I was going to use one chair I would put it on the other side of the door because I'd be afraid of the chair going backwards just far enough to fall off the porch.

Perhaps look for a small but comfortable rocker (the Amish make great ones), put it where Beverly has the green plant and put the plant on the opposite side close to the door. Nothing else. It should then look visually spacious, or as spacious as it could get.

I cannot imagine chairs on that tiny space I think it would feel like if I move I will fall off the step. Why not two nice big tall planters one on each side of the door filler to overflowing with seasonal plantings to add some great color and change with the seasons too

But the OP wants to sit out there. So two chairs on each side of the door facing out so no worries about tipping backwards. Bright chair seat and back cushions will give you your color.

An area rug as big as will fit so it is an outdoor 'room'.

Then add big flower pots on each side of the steps, and on the porch.

Sometimes you don't get what you want thats life there is no way for 2 chairs to be there and used .The door will hit the one on the right and the one on the left might just tip over the edge

I had thought about door swing when making my suggestion. I realized though that the door swings into the house - mine does too & I think that’s the standard code wise that doors to outside always swing towards inside of house. It’s a safety thing if there’s a height difference on each side of threshold. So, there’s no worries here about the door opening & hitting the chair(s) on either side of door. This is mjchattam’s porch so s/he can do what they want. My suggestions were meant to help figure out which size & style works best on the porch. IMO choices are backless bench, small chair or garden stool - either singly or some combo. I don’t think a rocking chair, even with short rockers will fit space well.

With bistro chairs not all legs need be on the rug which frees up the size.

Mj, iron-wrought style furniture have a lighter look and will fit, Trace’s picks would certainly fit — maybe the photo shown is a little deceptive, you have room! Think, beautiful entrances on narrow porch garcionerres, the Quarter, the little iron chairs on each side, so much you can do to look welcoming and elegant!

Lantern sconces, chairs below, planters placed by the columns? Certainment, a rug! You can try out items on the Houzz app, or go to Rugs Direct and put in the photo! change the k b size if the photo apps don’t work!

My suggestion is to have a dry run, space and size-wise, before shopping or ordering. Cover a chair or table with a sheet and pin the fabric tightly in the back. You are not distracted by the furniture itself, just gives you an idea of shape/size allowance and then …
