What was your reason for the black? It seems inconsistent with the other choices and really heavy.

I also think the black seems very heavy and darkens the room. I would paint it the same color as the rest of the ceiling.

less is often more - I would paint it the same color as the ceiling (at first I thought they were black shades on sky lights)

You might have considered a slight contrast instead of black.

If you keep the black, it should only be on the ceiling part, not on the coffered part.

It eats light do it the same as the rest of the ceiling please . I actually makes no sense in a kitchen but it's there so please no high lighting it . Waht the heck is the lighting in there those posts are huge and seem to be kind of useless . Maybe post better ppics of the whole space for context .
