If you're going to replace the corian with a similarly colored granite, what is your goal? Do you just want granite?

There is so much going on that the solid countertop is nice as a place for your eyes to rest.

Have you considered soapstone?

Consider looking at countertops that can also replace the backsplash for a cohesive look. I would look for a solid since there's so much going on with floor and stone wall nearby.

I usually love granite but in this case IMO go corian again you have way too much stone already competing in the space . I would do a light color from the floor and please fix the lighting , if not in the budget to remove that box then at least replace those bulbs with LED ones . Is the counter damaged ? Maybe soapstone but IMO that kitchen is so tiny and dark a light all one color couter is the best and since your range has a back you could do the corian for backsplash too.

Is anything else being renovated? I ... see places where I'd spend my money other than countertops right now.

I would remove those decorative cabinets over your island and put hanging pendants there! It would open your space up and make your kitchen appear much larger I think. And keep your counter top

IMO there are two issues in your kitchen area

The cabinets over the countertop on the peninsula and the flooring throughout the house.

That patterns is the wrong scale for a home this size and it's way too busy.

The Corian countertops are one the few nice elements. Why change what ain't broke?

changing the flooring and removing the cabinets above the peninsula, really calmed the space.
