D daylilies 2025

Show us your D daylilies today. This is easy for me, I only have three.

Dances With Giraffes has had three seasons here and has been the bud queen. These blooms are eye level for me.

Destined to See had an off season.

Divine Design is relatively new here. Sometimes the sepals are pinched.

Sherry, I don’t have many Ds either. Dances With Giraffes appears to be aptly named!

Diamond Shores has not multiplied well

    Dragonfly Tattoo

Deliverer is a great plant-usually reblooms at least three times but did not last year due to drought I assume

Deep Dark Duck is indeed deep-in the foliage-it is dark but has few buds. I rarely photograph it-more an afterthought

Dearest Valentine is another one that did not rebloom last year.

Kate, Dragonfly Tatoo is lovely… I like the bitone qualities it has. My Dearest Valentine didnt survive.

My one D will put Brad to sleep, but it's one of my favorite doubles and has been with me for years. I like my doubles to resemble carnations or peonies with their full petaled centers. This one can almost do that.

Sherry, Devine Design is a nice design, color and form. Kate, Dearest Valentine is my favorite of yours. Maryl, zzzzzzzzzzzzz [lol]. If it were a rose it'd be nice!!!

What a clump of Deliverer! Here, it was so frequently splotchy that it was deleted. Some others had the same problem, but yours is magnificent.

Drew Hoo did not have a good year here, but here's a pic from 2024. The name comes from one of the characters at Judy's winter home community. I think it refers to calling out to a gardener or handy person.

    Doctor Handsome

    Doctor McGregor's Garden

Dark Jubilee (Korth)--nice, but would be even nicer if it were close to 6 ".

Dankie has a glowing yellow throat that adds to its appeal. But its bud count is modest.

Dawn of Aquarius bloomed in heat and drought.

Deep Dark Secret. Not as tall as some Davissons, but the blooms are big and beautiful.

Dennis Russell --good performance in 2024

Discerning Heart. Very nice. Not a fast grower.

Dippity Doo Dah --a Davisson dip.

Diana's Evening Gown. This Waldrop can throw some stunning flowers (this one on rebloom). The plant increases modestly.

    Debbie Fahlman at Crintonic

    Davi's Dilemma

Mantis: Debbie Fahlman made me blink. I looked it up on the database and boy that's a pretty color. The other one that I like in that color line is Dawn of Aquarius. Especially as you mentioned heat and drought................... Kate: Deliverer does just that for you. What a good grower. I grew it long time ago, but the color wasn't my favorite - neither bright red nor orange. But that is my taste and it gets kind of funky now and then..........Brad: I just caught on that you also don't like yellow daylilies as well as double daylilies. Yellow and orange are my two favorite colors in daylilies. They compliment your lavenders so well too. How about a big lavender and yellow double daylily? I bet you'd still say no. What's a girl to do-lol............. Maryl

Kate: DELIVERER is stunning in a clump.

    Brad: DESERT ICICLE looks great.

Sherry: DANCES WITH GIRAFFES is a great plant. I grew it, but I just did not like the color. It is a good performer though.

Mantis: DISCERNING HEART and DIANA'S EVENING GOWN are certainly attractive.

DESIRE OF NATIONS: Takes some time to get settled.

    DESIRE OF NATIONS seedling

    That is all I have.

Lots of the D's posted stand out to me. I love the shape and color of the first Divine Design photo. David's Desire of Nations and its progeny always captivate me, as do Mantis' photos of Dawn of Aquarius. The Deliverer clump shot is a stunner, and I always like Brad's Desert Icicle. Maryl, I'm not much for doubles, but Dutch Yellow Truffle is a pretty one!

Dearest Valentine did a bit of rebloom in Nashville last summer, but not nearly as much as in previous years.

Dancing Flamingo did not perform well last year, and it did not rebloom as in past years.

Divas in Diamonds was quite pale after a long stretch in the high 90s.

    Doctor Handsome was new.

Diver Down is always a favorite red for me.

Lots of beautiful D daylilies posted here! I especially like the clump photo of Deliverer, Debra's seedling Diver Down X Fighting Fire, Dances with Giraffes, and Dearest Valentine. Our dearest Valentine did bloom this year (in spite of being in the 'crush zone'), but I didn't get a photo of it.

    Here are my D's.

Danger, Will Robinson! is new to the garden. I like it!

Darkness Rising is just a small yellow diploid, but its claim to fame is its black scapes.

As you might imagine, Bob loves Dave Chase Golden Glow.

Deadliest Catch is turning out to be a great parent for us. It blooms late in our garden even though it is registered as mid-late.

Delinquent Doll is one of my favorite late bloomers.

Dennis Russell has been a disappointment for us. It doesn't reach its registered height and bud count and vigor seem low. I like Glowing Quasar a lot better.

Double Blazing Busby is a nice orange. It has very full flowers and tall (for a double--41 inches) scapes.

    That's all for me.

Mantis, Dr, McGregor's Gardon is in the top 5 of the ones that you post. Such a great color and form. I also like Dawn of Aquarious.

David, The Desire of Nations seeding is great, better than the parent.

Debra, Diver Down x Fighting Fire is my favorite of yours!!!! I also like
Dancing Flaming X Neon Flamingo #3 and Dearest Valentine.

Nancy, Delinquent Doll is my favorite of yours. Dave Chase Golden Glow. is nice too.

Deep Waters. An Emmerich this does not multiply quickly.

Mantis - I see Deep Waters is a child of Kingdom Without End, one of my slow multiplying Emmerichs. Which one do you like better?

    Debra

Both are nice plants, but both are not fast multiplying. I have divided Kingdom W E, and it is coming back well. Deep Waters is a rounder flower with cookie-cutter segments. Kingdom's form seems more irregular. DW here seems more like 5.5 inches.
