master bathroom layout

In the beginning phase of remodeling a house. We are putting an addition on the house to allow our four daughters to have more space to get ready. In doing so we’ll add on to our bathroom. From the looks of it, it seems the master bathroom has a lot of wasted space. Is there something different to do? I do not want a walk in shower because I do not want to deal with tile and cleaning grout. Our daughters will have a shower tub combo so I do not want a tub in the master. Any ideas?

We need all the measurements and is this plan the existing and do you plan to add on or just redo what you have.. The measurements of all the spaces is needed . Toilets are always an issue in bathroom renos , have you spoken to a plumber about what is possible .So do 2 girls share each bedroom? The one bedroom is very lacking in claset space is this an issue ?Is this space upstairs then where are the stairs? Please DO NOT start another post or we lose this one so all things related to this space posted here in comments .

My advice would be to not have a door from the toilet to the closet. That area to the left of the toilet could be a tall linen closet. Then, I’d suggest you have a long counter with drawers below to the right of the make up station. You will gain inches in floor space for 4 girls to maneuver in there. And yes you are right that there is a ton of wasted space in the primary bath - if we know the exact inches of all the spaces and where the windows are in the primary bedroom we might suggest a rework of the whole suite. For instance you may want to flip the bathroom to the closet side in order to get more windows.

It seems with that much space being inefficient, you might be able to add another bedroom to have 4 girls in 3 bedrooms. Much more info would need to be shown.

Closets on exterior walls are such a waste of valuable real estate. thinkdesignlive's layout is SO much better.

There might be a huge beam where the old exterior wall was. That case would wreck all of the layouts shown thus far. So the framing and roof layout should also be considered in this design (because they are the factors that could force beams being below the ceiling splitting spaces).

You will probably get a ballpark cost for this addition between $150K-$250K. Then you will probably find that the value of that in proportion to the overall value of the house, just to have a larger secondary bathroom and an ensuite that is way-oversized-in-proportion to the Master Bedroom, will not equate. An addition that involves more than just making existing rooms "longer" might have a better value proposition.

^^^agree. And depending on the window layout of the primary bedroom - you could possibly rework the bedroom part to be bigger…have you had this priced out yet?
