That pale aloe green was never the best color for the wall paint. You cabinets will be more important if the walls are darker

I would consider that. I’d lose storage though.

If you can do without the peninsula, you could keep the straight run of base cabinets there, perhaps some deep drawer style for pots/pans or bigger items. This allows you to still have countertop space to work with. Not sure if you can address the flooring if the peninsula is taken out.

Based on the recessed lighting shown, you may want to consider having under cabinet lighting included. Can you show a photo of that opposite end of the kitchen?

I would consider switching the refrigerator with the pantry and not have those knick-knack shelves by the window to open it up.

Depending on what cabinetry you change to, along with countertops, you'll want to decide ahead if you want to switch from the 4" backsplash to a full backsplash. Last will be wall color. It's a nice space to work with!

a full replacement is a big undertaking as far as budget. the peninsula doesnt bother me.....if you explain the "wear" .....maybe some areas can be addressed, so restoring or just working on the finish could be a money saver for you.

here is a U shape w the small peninsula and a painted 2-finish approach if you can repair and then use paint for a new look........ details help , stools/ lights/ small bonus wall shelf . If you are going to budget for all new cabinets you can pick and choose anything you like. People collect Inspirations from pictures and that helps w a cohesive approach.

The peninsula and layout would be fine for me. The cabinets would be fine, too - and if possible, I would try to work with them. @herbflavor raises some very good points.

But it all comes down to what you want to do.

I would paint the walls in a white that would sync up/complement the appliances. And would likely do different counters. Maybe some glass in a few of the uppers.

Your current layout is imo much better than the one directly above. But this is subjective... different people like different layouts.

If you keep the peninsula, make sure the base cabinets can open on both sides, especially have the one in the corner open to the other side. I imagine you will keep the overhang but still, at least you can reach everything. We have a peninsula and every day I curse the builder who did not put drawers or cabinet doors in that corner, facing the breakfast nook.

Here's a kitchen similar too yours where white applicances could work.But since your are replacing the entire kitchen (or perhaps refacing) I suggest you consult some of the kitchen cabinet companies in your area..

I'd upgrade the counters to a darker, warmer green than the walls. I'm not sure the cabs are a great color with the walls, but if it's part of a bigger room and you like the color, then the right counter could make it work.

It looks to me like there's a narrow entrance, so I'd see if I could shrink the counter in the doorway when replacing the counter. Even an inch or two would probably be an improvement.

Depending on what's behind the back wall, you could paint the kitchen area a darker color that goes with the green. Just a much darker shade of the same color would work. You could keep it going beyond the far left as an accent wall in your other room or have a line between them where the wall is.

Option from a dedicated renovation avoider, still living with an authentic mid-70's harvest gold kitchen(!). This just replaces the countertops with whiter ones with some subtle veining (eliminating the angled peninsula corner and what looks like an overhang into the walkway area) and paints the existing cabinets (removing the corner shelves and adding crown at the top for a more finished look). Assumes you're keeping the wall color, which looks like it continues into other areas.

I really like Simplynatural's rendering, and I don't usually like gray- but you have enough color with the walls and floor tones to support it here.

I actually like your kitchen, and since you want light and bright I would suggest simply a new off white counter without the clipped edge on the peninsula, and painting the existing pink cabinets a similar creamy white. Add aftermarket under cabinet light strips so you're not working in shadows. Oh, and add some hardware to your doors! Knobs on the doors and pulls on the drawers & pantry cabinet will add a surprising amount of style.

Your kitchen is lovely. I'm wondering if it can just be repaired instead of a full out renovation. It's hard to tell how much wear there is, but if is not significant I would use the money for something else. I have found that sometimes all that is required is a reset - a deep clean, reorganization, and paint can do wonders.
