Powder room Renovation

last year

This is a repost as my first one is lost somewhere.

I am doing a powder room renovation.

Putting in white shaker cabinets and white countertop

The room is 5 feet by 5 feet.

You can see from the layout below that the vanity has only one sink on the right side.

I need to decide whether to put a large mirror across the whole wall or a smaller one just on top of the sink area.

Also need to decide on the shape of mirror and shape of lights.

Do you have any ideas ???

I am going around in circles!

How will you access the cabinet space on the left that is next to the toilet? What do you keep in there?

I feel that a vanity that spans the entire space with a mirror that spans the entire space makes the toilet look like it was accidentally dropped down into a room where it doesn't belong.

I'd put in a single, shorter vanity with a mirror just above it. Is that an option? Does your tile extend underneath your current vanity?

I am just changing the doors and counter and following the diagram as above. It is just a mini makeover so I am just concerned about the mirror and lights :)

I would just place a mirror over the sink.

a powder room allows you to do something dramatic, like wall paper or dramatic framed art. the mirror is just for a quick look and touch up.

Lights too don't have to be over powering, but can be very decorative.

With everything being left as is, I’d hang a mirror and small light above the sink. Hang a piece of framed art to the left. With the mirror covering the entire vanity it looks like a full bath chopped in half rather than it looking like a powder room.

Paint the walls and ceiling the same color.

Lyn and Kendrah - do you have an opinon about shape of mirror??

it really depends on the over all style you are going for.

What colors other than the white cabinet and countertop?

Will you be painting the walls, ceiling? Wallpaper? Do you have a ceiling light in the powder room? if the ceiling is without any recepticles, I might paper the ceiling for a dramatic look... an ornate gold framed mirror, so many options. It's a personal choice.

I was planning on painting the walls a sage green. No ceiling light. The towel rack and faucets are brushed nickel, but I can change those. I don't love glitz too much, just warm feeling. So hard to decide!!
