The picture isn't clear enough to suggest a color but I have a better idea. Pick up a color wheel ,study it then make your choice.

I agree, the black doesnt look all that great. Its too dark, and it looks like its on the wrong house. I would paint it the color of the shutters.

IMO what sticks out and all wrong is thta boxed out window and I aslo think if you have shutters then that same color for the front door is a great way to simplify the facede . I do not see the garage door but introducing another finish on this house is IMO all wrong A nice classic style thta requires simplicity in finishes . BTW take a much better pic and post here in jpeg format so we can actually see the house finishes . I love these homes in classic white siding and black shutters so not sure why you insist on this much warmer plaette that is kind of hard to work with .

The black is very crisp, classic, and I like it. I do see how it puts the shutters to shame though. I'd make the shutters darker.

Thanks for your feedback. we do have a budget for this renovation, so re-siding the house and redoing a large window was not an option and un neccesary as the previous owners just installed them- were trying to make the best of what we have which is warmer tones- quite honestly we’re kind of tired of the creamy exterior /black shutter look (theres a lot of it in our area; everywhere in fact). for the garage door, we played off the brown roof so we picked a wood overlay door. the door was just installed today, so Ill try and repost a pic

Leave the door black and have the DOOR FRAME Painted white and see how it looks. The black door with the black frame makes it look like a black hole.

There is a green cast thru the windshield. I would paint the Portico black to match the front door.

I would get some white vinegar and remove the green patina from the copper awning and just have it burnished copper color. The verdigris is too green.

Thank you so much for this! i didnt realize we could use vinegar to get rid of the green cast on the copper. we decided to definetly outline the trim of the door to match whats in the windows/portico to help it pop more and bot look so dark, and i think were going to go ahead and try paiting the door to match the shutters. We’ve also seen some examples where the sidelights are painted to match the trim as well and leaving just the door painted black/white, any thoughts on that?

To me that is all secondary to the Portico, which in white is too prominent and to me looks awkward in white or off-white. Thus my concept rendering, I'm not sure you would need white around the door other than the ceiling.

I'm sorry for the crude software but if you squint your eyes, I think it looks very nice with the black.

YouTube the vinegar thing, you don't want wipe marks.
