Living room decor

Hey everyone! I could really use some help on what to do with these walls in my living room. I've never been good at selecting art. I've always defaulted to family photos. And even with those, I find myself not loving how I put them up... Any help in that area is greatly appreciated.
I uploaded pictures of all 4 'walls' so you can see my awkward layout 😅
We're in the process of updating that little cubby in our living room. It used to be a wet bar and we are now going to be adding floating shelves for my books. The bookcase currently there will be removed and replaced with a console table that has storage for all our board games. The little bench to the left of the cubby is what I'm storing my kids' toys in right now.
P.s. I know I need color but I don't have an eye for this. Help!

Lola - if you make a quick scaled sketch of your room (including all dimensions for walls/windows/doorways/fireplace/nook/etc. - 1/4"=1'), you will receive layout/design advice suggestions from some talented individuals. Without the scaled drawing, it is very difficult for them to provide you with assistance. If you have graph paper, you can use that instead of a ruler.

Your walls will look better with larger art vs. a gallery wall of family photos. Also, your curtain panels (while hung at a nice height on the wall) are too short.

Your tv is placed too high + above the FP isn't usually the best place (unless there isn't another option in the room).

There really are many talented people on this forum who are willing to provide help - but you have to do a tiny bit of work by taking some measurements + making the scaled drawing. It will be worth your time/effort!!

You're in luck! I'm an interior designer who specializes in art selection. Personal photos are great, but they work best in the bedroom. For your living room, I'd suggest one large piece of art instead of a bunch of smaller ones. It’ll create a focal point and make the space feel more balanced.

Your space looks good! For the walls, try a large statement piece above the console—like abstract or nature art—and a gallery wall with a mix of photos and decor for balance. Add color with soft blues, greens, or warm earth tones, and use floating shelves in the cubby for books and small decor. It'll look cozy and cohesive!

Yes, there is a sliding glass door that leads to our backyard on the right. One day we'd like to replace that with French doors, but that won't be for a while.
