Budget? Ideal set up - uplight on the ceiling (invisibly nestled on the trim), ambient light via wall sconces (can't see enough of the walls to recommend placement), task lighting on the desk, picture lighting on the bookcases.

Ceiling - don't get a different shade of green. Use the same paint and have them cut the pigment by 50%. Great trick my color consultant taught me. The ceiling will look the same color as the walls if you do this.

Without a color pro, I’m going on instinct here in thinking Of course the frames for paneling will be semigloss…AND the walls inside the frames as well, to mimic wood.

To accentuate the small octagon in the ceiling, go even lighter? Or add a drop of

’pearl’ something? Nah. Now I’m going way beyond my pea-size painting knowledge.
