Weird to use diff solid surface for backsplash and countertop?

I plan to replace my tile backsplash with solid surface, while keeping the current countertop (Caesarstone Oyster Classico 9601). I prefer quartz or slab porcelain but have not found anything that I think looks 'normal' as a coordinating backsplash. (I hope that comment re 'normal' makes sense!) I will appreciate your comments and suggestions. NOTE: my main complaint re the current backsplash is dirty grout. I'll be grateful for comments re grout that is good looking that does not show stains (but not black of darkest gray). If the 'two different solid surface' plan does not work out, I will consider new tile with truly stain-resistant grunt.... assuming there is such a thing!

Have you checked out back painted glass no grout really fun in a color and easy to clean maybe a nice pale turquoise since the space looks a bit MCM to me .. I really dislke quartz so cannot think of one to mix with what you have .

Mixing different materials is called style! Think of it like pairing jeans with a leather jacket; they don't match, but they look great together.

Thank you! Before I go down the tile/grout road again, I hope to first exhaust ideas for pairing the countertop with a complimentary solid surface backsplash. Ideas anyone??

Thank you, Patricia - that's a great idea! Yes, this is a MCM home - built in 1955 in the Eichler style (a 'like-ler' :-). There is tons of info on GW re back-painted glass back splashes. Yay!

Slab backsplashes are current. Trend: Slabs Are This Year’s Must-Have Backsplash - Walker Zanger

At least in transitional kitchens. If you can find a porcelain, engineered quartz or marble slab that mates with your counter it can eliminate grout and greatly reduce installation cost. It would be easier if your counter material and the backsplash matched. Which means you could use Caesarstone Oyster 4030 as your backsplash.

Or maybe one of the other Classico patterns.

I can't imagine seeing a different solid surface material as a backsplash. Are you not able to find more of what you currently have on the counter? I'm a fan of a painted wall instead of a backsplash. That is what I have and no grout is a wonderful way to live.

Is this the only area in the kitchen that needs a backsplash? - i think solid glass would make a lot of sense - but agree that epoxy grout could help with tile

I’ve also seen some pantina’d brass backsplashes that were pretty great but doesn’t seem like they’d jibe with your kitchen

Make sure to take into account the thickness of a slab backsplash. Depending on your geographic area, it will be 2 cm or 3 cm. You will lose some space behind your faucet, compared to using a thinner tile backsplash.

Etsy shows a lot of glass backdrops behind cooktops. You might be able to find something that you felt went with your colors and could just be easily mounted behind the sink.
