Make it modern please?

Hello! Looking for some thoughts on ways to make the exterior look more modern.

Window and trim paint?
Garbage door paint / style?
Change the double door?

Are you wanting current and/or trendy?

I love this house and I agree it could use something. I like your black double front door, I would keep it and paint the rest of the trim and the garage doors black. No more white. Here is a quick sketch of my concept...sorry no fancy software so squint lol.

Are you able to put your cars in the garage? I ask because they interfere with the appearance of the facade, and the degree of “ welcome”.

Swapping out the double doors for a single with large sidelights would bring light into your entry. It will also expose your entry to the outside. The dark trip shown above is what's popular. it looks very striking.

I would go with tracefloyd's color scheme, add windows along the top of the garage doors, and replace the double front doors with a single door and sidelite.

Here is the trim in Urbane Bronze with wood garage and front doors.

The wood garage doors @tracefloyd shows in ^^ post look very rich. Nice!

Your house is not a modern style. I think wood garage doors look good, but will they stay looking good in all weather? I like urbane bronze trim, but again, it's not going to make your house look modern.

IMO tracefloyds idea is best and then some more modern landscaping is as good as you will get for a modern look for a not modern home .

I assume modern is used instead of the term contemporary i.e. up-to-date.

Thanks everyone! I should be specific. I’m not one for trendy and my default style is mid-century. I’ve done a complete Reno inside in a mid-century aesthetic and I know my house isn’t at all mid-century but I tend to lean towards the modern vibe over trendy and contemporary if that helps.

    Do you like these?

Lots of options to go with mcm modern

Btw MCM is not "Modern"...it is a style from the last Century...hence the name.

YES! I love them all. That's the style I am drawn to.

You can decorate inside any way you want, but if you put MCM doors on the exterior IMO they will look out of place. This house is never going to be MCM.
