Design elements

last year

So I almost finished the interior, some coffee table left and little cupboards next to the bed. What other elements or furniture could I add to make it even more cozy and complete?

Bedroom- move the bed away from wall so a person can make the bed. Sconces on either side will provide light. Living area - from what I can see and no floor plan move the yellow sofa away from wall and at least add an area rug so the front feet of sofa/chair(s) sit on the rug.

More: Living area move desk to the corner so back of desk is on the same wall as the slider. This will give your eyes a place to rest while working. A desk (perhaps wood) will conceal the wires. We do need scaled floor plan of whole space with windows, entry’s, etc.

I am not sure what you need but cozy does not come to mind in any of those spaces right now . The LR needs to have the sofa pulled away from that wall on the left 2 end tables with lamps for the sides of the sofa a nice coffee table and at least one accent chair and a rug that that has at least a bit of yellow in it to tie in the sofa. You need a dining table with some nice upholstered chairs to add a bit of warmth and great chandelier over the table . That chair is not needed in the bedroom and does not fit . The bed needs bedding and it needs to be made to look nice . The kitchen needs some appliances to make it look functional and also to add a bit of color maybe too. ART for sure and lots of it . Where is the TV going ? That office space looks cold maybe a nice wood desk not sure about what you need for an office there so would need more info. Cozy comes from rugs pillows soft seating art lou love drapes to absorb sound That LR rug a lot larger

I have the floor plan. Also pc table is 140x80, sofa is 206x91 and the bed is 200x170. The current rug is 230x160

In the right of the kitchen I will have TV table, tower speakers and TV itself hanging on the wall. I will get drapes for sure for all rooms because those windows reflect a lot of sound just not sure what color I should choose for them

I don't think pc table can be moved anywhere else since it's not really small

I will move the sofa away a little from the wall when I figure out where I will have round dining table which is gonna be 90cm with probably two chairs.

Did you just move in? There's quite a lot to do to make your space more homelike. Here are some suggestions:

--Get an indoor-outdoor runner rug for the entry way. Add a shallow table, mirror, and lamp to make more of an inviting entry. Rug should coordinate with whatever living room rug you get.

--Living room. Float your yellow sofa to face the window. Get a patterned rug with yellow in it and two armchairs to face the sofa.. Face your desk on the entry wall.

Here's a palette for your rug--browns against the floor and harmonizing with your kitchen cabinets, yellow of the sofa.

Two arm chairs in a lighter brown than this to face the sofa:

--Get wide, low shelving that runs entirely across the wall where sofa is now. Turn desk to wall.

--You don't mention a TV. If you're going to get one shelving across the far wall where your desk is. Put TV on it on the shelf. Float the sofa to face the new TV wall and two new upholstered chairs. Face the desk to the entry wall.

--Dining area: round table near window and modern chairs. Ikea has affordable white tulip table. Pick wood chairs that harmonize with your cabinets.

--Bedroom. Add a patterned bedcover and pillows. Go for this feeling: small lamp (or sconces as someone suggested) drapes, neatly made bed.

ou could do an accent wall if you like that blue or get art for over the bed.

Here's a furniture layout suggestion for your living/dining area...

According to your pictures you seem to have lighting above the dining table. If not centered with the table you can get a ceiling rod in white (like the ceiling) to hide and bring the wire above the table. It's a cleaner look than a swag.

Just want to add that anything new you bring in must harmonize with your floors and kitchen cabinets since they are fixed "givens."

According to the floor plan you don't seem to have a closet for the bedroom. You can look into the Ikea Pax Series where you can combine drawers and hanging sections.

I type of seating/lounging is what 'd suggest not going with a coffee table. Instead a large ottoman like this one from Ikea.

Link in Lithuania. Also comes in black leather. You could get yellow in a smaller size and maybe get several. Not sure of the match.

This type of seating/lounging is the goal.

    Link for yellow.

Some Ikea sofas have seat cushions with pocketed coil springs. Those greatly improve the look and longevity of the cushions.

Layout by lidedv does make sense, that could probably work.

Though question. What purpose does a bench near bed serve, it will make walking space even more narrow.

  • last year

Is the brown "wall" in the bedroom a closet? If so, then don't put a bench at the foot of the bed.

Here's a tiny bedroom similar to yours. The mini-dressers make good night tables and add storage. The plain white curtains keep the small space bright.

You've gotten some great advice on layouts, color, and furnishings. What appeals to you?

I did the layout according to the floor plan but it looks like there's a closet (brown doors) at the end of the room which were not indicated on your plan and perhaps it takes up more space than the Pax System I suggested. If you don't want a bench you simply don't put one there, some people like a bench to sit on while putting shoes on, etc. Remember, we haven't met to really discuss your needs, I'm working with little information, and only giving suggestions.

Did I make a good move going with mustard yellow sofa? It's basically to add more warm colors to the room

  • last year

The yellow sofa is fine, but it's shoved against a wall. Put some felt pads underneath it so you can try different placements. What do you think of all the suggestions you're getting? It's unclear what you want. Which suggested layouts make sense to you?

  • last year

I'm going to add one more suggestion before giving up on this Dilemma since we're not getting much feedback. Float the sofa to face kitchen/dining, but put a desk/office space behind the sofa back. In this way you separate work space from relaxation space.

The yellow sofa is fine but now you have to work the decor around that piece which is somewhat limiting.

Thank you for suggestions. Yes I will have to try multiple placements

I migh get a rug with yellow details and put current one in bedroom underneath the bed
