House was built in early 2000s. I am wanting to update and looking for suggestions . The rest of the house is light warm colors with black and brown accents and the trim is a warm white.

that's a nice kitchen! If it were me, I'd update the lighting to something softer and still contemporary (but I admittedly don't like exposed bubs, they often have to be very bright in a kitchen and can bring in glare) -- then I would change backsplash to something a bit more refined/simple

I also find you have a nice kitchen. Like @la_la Girl, I don't like the glare from bulbs so If keeping the chandelier I would place shades on the bulbs and replace the 2 pendants above the island since they have a glass shade. I wouldn't touche the cabinets nor countertop, if you want to change something it would be the backsplash.

Gorgeous kitchen. Why mess with success?

I think your kitchen is quite nice. For me, the backsplash is the odd man out.....looks a little like floor tile that doesn't compliment to cabinets and counters. I also think the dining table fixture could use shades to soften it. I am not a fan of the glass fixtures over the island,,,,,mainly because I hate to always be cleaning the glass :)

two perfect spots ..island top and counter on the right wall. get a warm beautiful wood top or else one of the more complex white granites...maybe honed. after that change get new pendants. House looks colonial/traditional. shiny black counters ?? ...just break it up a bit. more simplified backsplash of course...but there are rich warm white tiles that would look beautiful.

wood top with new pendants .

I would want a lighter counter (Taj Mahal quartzite or Vermont Danby Marble) and a different backsplash.

if you want that extreme white seems you need something else like a white top on the island....or paint the entire island white....white frosted pendants or ?? not sure.... I dont really see that much that is wrong w the existing to go w jarring white in an isolated spot like that. what you have now is better.....unless you want other white things.... Alternatively .try mid tone ..like sage green backsplash.....that mid range intensity with an actual color would be a lot more harmonious with wood if the backsplash is what you care to change. bringing in various tile samples......all kinds...... might be a good activity.

an actual color would be a good harmony w your wood

It's difficult to tell exact colour on a computer, I was under the impression the walls were already a white colour. The marble suggested for the backsplash is basically a warm white usually with a few flecks of beige and gray, you have to choose the colour on site. So here's the look with whitened walls and backsplash. Bring samples of the backsplash home and if that works for you then bring paint samples a make sure to make tests. Below I show some of the popular warm whites.

New backsplash. Paint the walls warm white. New chrome hardware. New island top.

What vibe/ambiance /aesthetic are you looking for?

I would replace the countertops & backsplash w/lighter colors.

the aesthetic you choise will drive all choices, down to the cabinet pulls' shape & metal

You have a really nice sized kitchen but it does look a bit heavy. I would look for a local cabinet maker who could simplify the hood area, remove the angled corner and bring the cabinets to the ceiling to update the look.

By the time you put labor into prepping and painting the current doors, it may make more sense to choose a new transitional door style. If it can be done, I'd also remove the columns flanking the cooktop cabinet, sink and island and replace the lighting, hardware, countertops and backsplash.
