    The size of this island is not the important issue. What is important is correct walkways and distances from the perimeter to the island. I would never go less than 42" from the perimeter to the island on the sink side and 45" on the range side. I also like to line an island up with the end of the cabients on each area, range wall and sink wall. Hope that helps!
