We did about as you did around Page and it was plenty. There's the dam too if that interests you.

While in the area, there, I highly recommend spending about the same amount of time at Monument Valley. It's but a few hours from Page. We liked it as much or better than most of the sights we saw during a national park trip that stretched from Death Valley to Bryce Canyon.

We stayed at the View Hotel and took a jeep tour of the valley. It's stunning and also breath-taking in a sense one sees the poverty of the Navajo people whose homes dot the valley. The area has been the setting for numerous feature films, from John Ford /John Wayne Westerns to Forrest Gump. The rock pillars (maybe called buttes?) are stunningly beautiful.

There's no alcohol served at The View (it's on Navajo land) so the second night we went over the wall and drove to Mexican Hat, UT. On the way one passes along the road used for the famous Forrest Gump scene. Many stopped cars along the road to snap a photo.

When travelling around in the boondocks to see the natural sights of the West, don't expect 4 star hotels or memorable food. Clean rooms and food that doesn't give me food poisoning are the standards I use.

We spent one night in Page. We visitedAntelope Canyon, which is pretty amazing. Be sure to make reservations in advance. We also went to see Glen Canyon Dam and a small museum bext to it. I wanted to go to Horseshoe Bend but my friends had never heard of it and I couldnt convince them to go

Im still mad about it.

Anyway, one night there is enough.

looks like M.V. is on the way to Page, so that would be a great stop!!

dedtired: which Canyons did you visit? i keep reading Canyon X is the one to see. upper and lower is so crowded they push you through, difficult to take pics...

Honestly, i just know it was Antelope Canyon and yes, it was fairly crowded although i did not feel rushed. If i can remember or find the name of the tour Ill let you know. Here are some pics. The good and the less good!

There is a Medicine Hat in Alberta, though.

Upper Antelope Canyon ....you are driven up to the entrance in a 4x4, it's deep sand. Everyone has a guide...but .....a photography tour is an "upgrade". Lower Antelope Canyon we were sent in without a guide, given 3 hours to show ourselves around.

Lots of shopping too. One couple was selling jewelry out of the trunk of their car....(I already have a "few" pieces I bring with me to wear)

We also went to Glen Canyon Dam. It's really something to see! Horseshoe Bend is near town...we spent at least 2 hours there waiting for the sun to rise and hit just right. We stopped at knob Utah to try to win the lottery for "The Wave". The lottery is @ 8AM, then you can't enter "The Wave" until the next day. (We both won the right to purchase park passes).
