Agree that it is empty looking. I would add colorful art before adding plants. It would help to see the rest of the entry - from the vantage point of the console looking the opposite direction. But, for art I’d add a smaller framed piece on wall behind lamp & plant. A large piece on facing wall above plant in stairwell & a 3rd piece on wall below window - perhaps centered between the right edge of window & bottom of staircase. The 3 pieces would be best framed in similar fashion & compatible images and colors. The plant on shelf in stairwell - I’d get a larger plant & pot to fill the corner.

I would add a coloful roman blind to the window above the stairs, and get a colorful large rug in the entry. Add art to the nook area, and a gallery wall of art going up the stairs.

Tall oval mirror over the console, much taller & skinnier table lamp on left, decor bowl, candle or tray in the middle and shorter plant pot on the right, maybe with a plant that trails down the pot. The pot could sit on a book, too.
The stair shelf is begging for something tall and substantial to break up the color.

Hi! I would place a sculpture in that corner tall enough to cover almost 2/3 of the height or at least half, some art on the right wall and a round rug. It is missing a 3d element there. I don't know the style for the rest of the house, those are indicative. But you can find amazing sculpture elements, you can even adding a lighting sculpture if possible at that corner!
