Hostas with Margins ...........................2024

last year

All margins: white, green, yellow, two-toned, three-toned. Sometimes I can stare at the change of color as it leaves the leaf.

Next: The Minis, the little guy.

Yes I can.

Sad but this does happen.

I'll be headed back to school.

Post your margins and as always Have a great day.

Nice Sagae and Whee Sherry. I love the glossy leaves on S&S.
I have 71 hostas that have marginated leaves! I can’t believe it! I will try to post some here that I don’t see others post usually.

I’ll try a few more. Houzz is not always cooperative.

I also cringed looked at the stubbed toe, I have never hit mine that bad, but I have hit them often. I love seeing all these margins.

Here are a few of my favorite

    Lakeside Masterpiece

    One Last Dance

Here’s a variegated combo that makes me happy: Paul’s Glory, Tokudama flavocircinalis, and Tootie Mae. (That’s Francee peeking in the edge)

Lakeside Paisley Print. This one heaved, and I’m hoping it will come back.

I haven’t been commenting much because one of my arms is giving me grief…… 😕 but I will comment on one from each poster.

    Beth, beautiful LS Masterpiece

    Igg, terrific Paisley Print

Mike, so many great ones! I think your Delta Dawn and Guardian Angel take the cake! 🎂😊

Ann so nice to see daffodils and ferns this early. I went looking for my Crocus this morning, but not up yet.

Laurie, you always have so many lovely ones! Favs are Christmas Tree, Moonstruck and Regal Splendor.

debra..sorry to hear about your arm 🙁..
it's sad that we have so many aches and pains in our group isn't it?..
I've been lax about specific comments..I've been a little lazy..and it's tricky not to slight someone..the truth is..ALL of us have wonderful hosta..
    I'll mention a few..
    Sherry..fabulous Wheee..mine should be moved (sigh)..it's shrinking..
dang debra..71 with margins? 😝..I counted everything a few years ago..it was a pretty big number (504)..and would be higher now 😜..I like your Hope Springs Eternal and Eternal Flame..
Beth..I almost bought Forbidden Fruit..should've..yours is pretty..
indianagardengirl..I'm going to try to locate my Paul's Glory this summer..I hope it's as pretty as yours..I'm supposed to have several..
mbug..I like Brother Stefan and Luna Moth..one of your photos made me laugh..First Frost has a leaf with identical bites on each side..check it out 😂..
Laurie..love Emerald Ruff Cut, Lipstick Blond and Paisley Border..all have wavy edges 💕..The King reminds me of steve..I miss him..hope he's fine..fingers crossed for my Yellow Polka Dot Bikini..mine is much smaller than yours..🤞

I have Golden Tiara in several spots..some in the front..

    it's 52..I found these today..

Thanks Debra! Rest those arms!! Get them ready for spring!

Laurie...all great. Cherry Berry is one of the best I've seen, including HL. Not an easy one to grow.

    Sherry..lol..you're a bad influence 😂😂😂..

FF is very pretty..I could smack myself for not buying it 🤦‍♀️..sometimes being practical is impractical..now it will cost more haha..

my plan was to move existing hostas before buying new ones..good idea but it hasn't gone as planned..I didn't finish the work..

  • last year

Mike I firmly believe certain ones like Cherry Berry do better in my zone and that others like Great Expectations & Dream Queen do better in yours.

    Sherry FF is a beauty.

  • last year

Laurie ....You could be right. I do have a CB, but it never looks good even though I try to keep it protected. Gets ratty looking almost overnight. Beautiful plant when it looks like yours.

Beth and Sherry your FF looks great. It is one to have.

Igg, nice LS Paisley Print ....one of my favorites.

NW....you are right about the leaf on FF. I hadn't noticed how similar.

Suddenly I'm encountering all sorts of issues with Houzz when it comes to posting with multiple pictures in the post, never had that happen before.

    'Katherine Lewis'

I'll limit myself to one image per post, see what happens when I go to submit...

    Pieter

One more try with three and it crashed again.....

'Princess of Karafuto' and as you can see it would appear to be a favourite of something, either slugs or weevils, suspect the latter.

I'll stick to single image for the time being...

So many great "Margins" everyone. I have a lot and so many I don't have, like nicholsworth said - you all are a bad influence!

    Brass Ring

    Envy

    Francee

    Island Breeze

    Majesty

One more round and I'll quit.

    OD......Terrific!

That toe looks so painful! They could have named it YYY? And I bet someone was so proud of themselves for remembering the apostrophe in I’ll. 😊

Ann, your daffodils emerging makes me happy! I’ll be looking for mine when the snow melts.

Laurie and debra, you’ve jarred my memory. I think this little survivor might be Glad Rags. If it comes back, I hope to figure it out.

For margins I like the crisp, white edges of Brentwood Blues. I’ve always liked Francee for that reason, too.
