Is there room for a coffee table or a low game table table and chairs? I was thinking four comfy swivel chairs around the table so that they could also face the TV and have a table for drinks or cards.

A wide padded bench for on the stair half wall, which I would be tempted to stretch out on to watch TV, or perhaps a settee or chaise there for that purpose.

Build a not too deep bench along staircase wall. Add a thick cushion. Store small nesting side tables you can pull out for drinks. Use the cabinet under the window as a bar. Add a runner rug to make the space more inviting.

You could also float a couple of outdoor type cafe chairs and small table in between in the open space.

Do add some colorful prints or hangings for the staircase wall that suggest fun and relaxation. These are from society6.com and come in many sizes. The middle two are wall hangings.
