Hi Mark - Is that your way of saying that it’s not currently available or something that isn’t widely used? If not widely used, do you know why? Too expensive to be a viable alternative? Doesn’t look like the real thing? I’d love to learn more. Also, between the stone, siding, trim, gutters, shutters and front door, the exterior of my house has 4 different colors at play and I’m nervous that going with a different roof will cause all the other colors to looks off.

I have no updated information so I am of not much use in this situation. When determining the cost of a building material you should also look at the expense of the material over the lige of the home. Seemed like the life expectancy of a synthetic cedar shake roof was about 50 years, that may be different now.

As far as the colors it is best to engage a local design professional that deals in color theory to assist you and give you a comfort level with the roof color selection.

I just received pricing from my roofer on regular architectural style asphalt shingles, synthetic cedar and real cedar. For anyone looking, the synthetic cedar was more than 2.5 times the cost of asphalt, and real cedar was 4 times the cost of asphalt. So I guess we know which one I’ll be choosing!
