Sorry I can barely stand wall to wall carpet in a master bedroom and for sure never in a LR ot FR andin your case for sure not since it is a walking path that will show wear very quickly . Nice wood floors and a washable area rug is what you need or whatever flooring you have in the rest of the house . Brands I have not uses wall toi wall carpet anywhere for at least 20yrs.

Smartstrand is polyester. And will not wear as well as nylon. The dense low pile loop options will wear the best. Stanton has wool and wool/nylon. Karastan has wool and nylon. Karastan

Lots to unpack here. Nylon wears well, polyester is easier to get stains out of. You have pets? Then you’d want to look at solution dyed nylon or poly. No pets? If you can afford wool it’s the best. If you love the look of vacuum marks and foots in the sand traffic look then you want cut pile. If you don’t like to see footprints then you’d want a loop pile. Color is the last thing you evaluate.
