Glass Shower Door Installation

Desperately need to replace a shower door (Cleveland Ohio). Problem so far is that I can purchase a shower door from many different places but I have yet to find a company that sells AND INSTALLS the shower door. I hate when the job like this "splits" so when there is an issue it is always the other guys fault. Anyone have a good company to recommend?

If you are replacing just part of a shower door unit... then yea, that's a custom job. Many places that both sell and install their own product are going to be less likely to have on hand an old replacement glass for just part of a shower door unit. So a custom one would need to be made to fit your already existing unit. You may also be less likely to find an installer willing to be accountable for such a job.

It might seem a shame to get rid of the rest of the door frame, but you would be more likely to get a good full replacement. By a company that will both sell a whole unit, and install it.

Random curiousity... what happened to the current door that needs to be replaced?

Could you let us know who you have already contacted so we don't accidently give you names you might have already contacted? Checking google, I'm finding box stores and several companies that sell and installs bathroom glass.

Local Glass Shop would be the place. Will not be a Box Store Price however.

I have contacted the glass companies like Great Lakes but I prefer NOT to pay for a "custom" shower door although I spoke to a couple of the glass companies. I have contacted Pro source and Cleveland Plumbing. I know the big box stores and Build.com, etc. do not install with their own people. I do not want "referrals" I would like the installer to actually be accountable to the company selling the shower door.

Wait... are you looking to have just a shower door glass replaced in an already existing frame... or looking for a replacement on the whole shower door unit? You say custom, so it is leaving me wondering.

Just replacing the door. The shower stall is acrylic and has held up beautifully. Be a shame to replace. The glass company builds to size (per them)

Then you need to have a glass shop and a custom door. Unfortunately one of those areas where you cannot have it both ways.

beesneeds glass has calcium deposits on it...can no longer be cleaned. AND the metal frame is crappy looking.

millworkman Probably ....I know I bought this shower door 20 years ago and bought at a place that had their own installers. No longer in business though. Was just hoping there was someone I missed.....I did leave a message with bath depot but have not heard back.

Ok, crappy 20 year old door frame... I can fully understand why a company would not want to be accountable for that. Even if their custom glass door is good, where they would be installing it might not be. What kind of crappy? Cleaning issues, or damage of some sorts?

Calcium deposits on glass should be able to be removed, even heavy deposits. Might need something like a CLR soak and scraping if it's really tough. If the door unit isn't actually damaged, maybe try contacting cleaning services that can do deep cleaning if it's something you feel you cannot do yourself.
