Is this going to be your background for Zoom? The sky light is great for plants but I do not see how to have them under it.Maybe some wall hanging planters could work

Thank you! Attached are the dimentions for this specific space. I brought up a small chair and desk from another floor just to see if they'd fit, and they do! I'd like to arrange things in a different way, but am happy to know that I *can* make it work! The Zoom background doesn't matter to me - I won't be using it for professional purposes.

Even if for personal conversations, make sure the zoom background is never an unmade bed or a pile of laundry.

Even better, the bed should not be seen at all.

Maybe consider a simple pull up laptop table to use when needed, combined with a comfortable chair, ottoman, and small end table with a lamp.

@calidesign - I love the idea of a pull up laptop table. I probably just want to stick with a chair - no ottomoan or end table in the interest of saving space.

During covid, we had regular meetings, as did everyone, on zoom. one guy would always have his unmade bed and used skivies in the background. C’mon, man!!!

Make sure you have a good backdrop for your Zoom Calls.

Honestly, I don’t really care about the background. Whatever it is will be fine.

The actual background is irrelevant--you can use Zoom settings to blur your background or install a faux background.

It's not that large a space--I'd place a comfortable club chair and ottoman kitty-cornered in that area. Add a small end table. If you're just doing personal zoom calls, you really don't need a desk.

Not to pry but do you live alone? If you have a partner will having essentially a small home office in the bedroom be a problem?

At some point, I may decide to give up space for a second chair, but for the most part, when I have lovers come to visit, we don’t hang out in the bedroom if we’re not in the bed.

Since you won’t be needing laptop for business and decided to use your chair, this determines the way forward.

1. Try moving chair on more of an angle towards the right/and back a bit to allow for a small table.

2. Consider only one large potted plant in corner to free up needed wall space for a table and comfy chair on the bathroom wall.

3. Could create a collage with all your pictures on the larger wall. There is lots of on line help and test configurations on the floor.

4. If open to changing the rug (I’d recommend to create a softer/lighter and more spacious feel) + a complementary throw and cushion.

1. Whe you say toward the right and back, do you mean move the chair toward the bed, but facing the bathroom?

2. There's no light in the corner for a plant, and I won't do artificial.

3/4. My view from the bed is more important than the view from the stairwell - and that's the view toward to bathroom/shorter wall. The small desk isn't there - I just brought it up to show scale.

5. Right now, I don't have a budget for a big new rug, so will work with what I have for now.

I think you meant to move the chair towards the bed! I just did that, and moved up a (very) small table to see how that would look.

Another question: do you think I should get a second chair? Rarely would it get used, but for aesthetics, would that make a nicer sitting area? I could put a taller backed chair in the corner, facing in toward the other one. Maybe with a small table in between.

Chair back a bit and slanted like below so as to allow for a table. When moving you’ll see what works best.

If you don’t need a desk, ehance your plants/pots and add a collage on the other wall. Don’t add another chair as the plants seem to be a priority.

Thank you! The plants go outside in the summertime but definitely need to be under the skylight in the winter, which complicates things since I can’t really move them out of the way, against the walls or they won’t get enough light.

Please do not have the chair facing the bathroom. It's already close (too close for my comfort) but facing it? Just no. Have it in the corner, facing outward toward the bed and other side of the bedroom. For plants, I'd have wall planters like these. They would probably get enough sun from the skylight. Or perhaps shelves as Maureen suggested.
