I do love a big Tulip Tree. The autumn colour is superb, even here where the weather isn't conducive to colours. Here the old ones tend to be large in circumference but not as tall as yours. Of course it's not native here so all of them are planted. Do you think this Chester tree is planted or 'wild'?

floral, that's a good question. I might lean toward planted, since the house looks well over a 100 yrs old and the tree possibly a bit younger (tuliptrees are very fast but do often show some wear & tear in old age). And old farmhouses like that usually had trees cleared around the building site when first built.

PS And tuliptrees are easy to transplant as saplings.
