Yard of the Month!

Today DH and I received the Yard of the Month award from our community garden club! We were both very pleased about it as the program was just started this year and we are the third home out of around 1500 to receive it. In addition to a certificate we were given a $25 Lowe’s gift certificate, which we are passing along to our gardener 😎 The sign will be displayed in our yard all month and a photo is on the club’s website.

I am adding a photo I took which unfortunately doesn’t show how pretty the flowers are. This is the tail end of winter for us and most people have not done their spring planting yet and are neglecting to baby the winter flowers as they won’t be around much longer. We keep our pansies in through Mothers’ day so I am still grooming and deadheading weekly—-undoubtedly the reason we got the award as some of the warmer weather displays in yards here eclipse ours by a very wide margin.

Anyway, we were very gratified and happy that the community has enjoyed our flowers.

How wonderful! Congratulations, indeed!! I love pansies and johnny-jump-ups, too.

(le sigh. At this moment, I am vying for the local non-existent garden club award for 'Worst Yard of the Month', and am likely to receive it. Fall clean-up did not occur before winter storms, and the March winds have added to the overall awfulness with myriad twigs and branches. It is very daunting! Woe, woe. BUT some shoots are beginning to poke up their optimistic heads here and there!)

Beautiful pansies! Love them but they are candy to the many deer that roam thru our yard so our winter look is pretty blah, brown and green. Congratulations on the award.

So gorgeous. Congratulations! My mom loved pansies as do I. I was just admiring ours in the backyard-one of the perks of living in a warm climate. No other annual flower lasts as long here as the pansies.
